I am looking for a charging handle for an Jager AP74 .22 rifle. Anyone know where to find one?

What i have found is the part#
Bolt Assist Assembly
Product No. 464220B 464220A or 464220C

All places i can find are out of stock.

Any info would help.

can you post a picture of what I assume is a broken part? Might be something that would be relatively simple to fabricate.

It looks like a standered charging handle but its shorter and not as wide. Doet have a hole in the end. I'll try to post some pic's soon.

I thought maybe Numrich Arms might have the part but nothing available on that site. I did see that at one time somebody had one listed as a parts gun on one of the gun auction boards –– might be the only way you'll find the charging handle is buy a parts gun. Maybe a machine shop can build you one but that's going to be expensive. Wish I knew of an alternative –– I've got an old 32 caliber version (AP-15) and have had to make some of the internal parts and know how hard it is to find original parts for these things.

Since you have the broken part, have you considered asking a qualified 'smith like m60joe if it can be repaired?  It probably won't be cheap, but it's better than not having one at all if you can't find a replacement.  I figure tolerances aren't as critical on a charging handle as, say, fire control parts so rewelding might be a possibility.
