I am not sure if this falls into the AR variant field or not but I will give it a go. I just recently inherited one and it is a cool little tactical rifle, all of it fits in the stock and is very compact. Long story this gun has not been shot in over 20 years so I gave it a good cleaning. The gun fires great except 2 issues, the gun will not accept rounds from the magazine. If I put a round in the chamber and then put the mag in the receiver it will fire 3 or 4 shots and accept rounds from the magazine but it only will accept new rounds from the recoil of a fire. I cannot cock the rifle and get it to load. The edge of the .22 LR no matter what brand or style I use hangs up on the bullet head or side of the casing. Next when I finally get the gun to cycle after 3 or 4 shots the magazine seems to feed to slowly and the bolt will catch the casing before it enters the chamber causing it to become lodged in the receiver. Does anyone have this rimfire rifle or know what I am talking about?

I've not ever heard much good about AR-7's being reliable but maybe I can help.  You  didn't mention how many magazines you've tried.   If you haven't already, I'd check to ensure the magazine spring and follower move freely.  The magazine could be dirty, dented which can impede movement of the cartridges up to the top of the mag.  The mag could have bent or improperly alligned feed lips.   I have a couple of 22 pistols that do not like to feed from a locked slide by hitting the slide release on a full mag.  If I insert the mag and pull the slide to the rear and let if fly they'll chamber every time.

You may have a combination of issues impeding the gun from feeding properly.  If the bolt and receiver  are very dry and dirty this can reduce the bolt speed and induce stoppages.  It also might help to inspect the extractor.  If the extractor and breech face are dirty or rough this can impede feeding.  If there are no burs on the extractor and the breach face is clean I'd inspect the chamber opening/feed ramp for rough edges which can catch and deform feeding soft lead bullets.  Also check to see if an unfired round will slide out of the barrel with the bolt open and the muzzle raised.  If an unfired round tends to hang in the chamber I polish the chamber using a barrel mop on a variable speed drill with Flitz polishing compound.  Try not to get the mop into the barrel rifling but this does help functioning.

Only other things I'd look at is the magazine catch to ensure the mag is held securely and at the proper height.  I also check the extractor to see if it moved as designed.  The extractor has to let the rim slide under the lip during feeding or snap over the rim as the bolt goes closed.  Also check the firing pin to ensure the firing pin moves freely.  If a firing is sticking in the fired position this will inhibit feeding.  Also inspect the top of the chamber to ensure the end of the barrel has not been battered by repeated firing pin hits.   Brownell's sells a file specifically for removing deformations on the end of the barrel of  rimfire guns.

If you figure out what is causing the problem post it here  as what you find might help others.

I'm assuming this is the same/similar to the Henry Survival Rifle? I bought a Henry a few years back and it functions flawlessly unless you try to use subsonic ammo (have to manually rack the bolt every time) or if its incredibly dirty, like after say 50-100 rounds, then it will fail to eject or fail to chamber a round. I'd try Henry mags if they fit.

Or try these folks, a friend of mine has bought from them and hasn't had any issues.

I've owned these little rifles from at least three different manufacturers over the years, multiples of some, and have yet to be impressed with one.  Feed reliability and accuracy were my chief complaints (yes, with a variety of mags and ammo and no, I didn't expect it to be a tack-driver).  I understand the novelty of them and I really wanted to like at least one of them, but I didn't keep any of them in the long run.  YMMV (and I sincerely hope it does).

This topic has been discussed a number of times over on the "Armory" section in the "10/22 and other" forum.  You may want to ask over there.

Best of luck.

Not legal advice, MHO, YMMV, etc.

I have checked everything on the gun over and over. The extractor, firing pin, bolt, barrel and all other aspects of the gun appear to be working very well. I have only used one magazine and when I feel the mag it seems as if the spring is very weak on the back of the magazine while heavy on the front. This could possibly be why the round is being caught in the chamber because their isn't enough pressure from the magazine pushing the round into the chamber? I already have a new magazine on order to see if this is the cause.
