I have no first hand experience with the DPMS. I do know it's gonna need to do a lot
to match the CMMG's I've shot...

No experience with the new version DPMS has out but I will be sticking with CMMG..Maybe down the road when the DPMS is out for awhile and has proven itself they may be a good buy to consider...I am not a fan of Bull Barrels at all but if you are you may like the DPMS...Other than the Bull barrel I see no advantages of it at all to sway me from the tested and proven CMMG,that also depends on wether you even consider the Bull barrel an advantage,I hate the looks personally and for the slight accuracy advantage you "may" get over the Standard barrelled CMMGs we do not need one.........We also like to have all the functions of  a "real" Ar and if thats important to you the CMMG is way ahead in that department for sure...

The DPMS also is not a standard AR upper reciever and thats a turn off for me too...

The DPMS is a very reliable, accurate AR .22. The test model has run 100%. Accuracy with Wolf MT is 1/2" at 50 yards.
It does feature Live Round Extraction.
It will and has shot every make of .22 lr ammo I have tried, even Remington.

There are no up grades or options.

While there is a bolt lock, it's function is to lock the bolt open, but you cannot load by inserting a mag and hitting the bolt catch. You cannot lock the bolt back after the last shot is fired. When the mag is pulled, the bolt goes forward.

The receiver is a purpose built and machined upper exclusiviely for the DPMS bolt system. It's basically a 10/22 bolt. Proven reliability. By what I have experienced with it so far, the bolt system is built like a tank.

My opinion is it's a good, dependable, and accurate rifle. Of course long term reliability is still to be seen.
The bull barrel would be good for bench shooting with an AR platform .22. There is also an M4 configuration I have not tested.

Depends on if you want options and up grades.

Dave could the Catch 22 mechanism be used in the DPMS to atleast have a bolt hold open even if it will not operate with BHO mags?I doubt it looking at the reciever design but curious anyway..Thanks

If you want to know more about the DPMS, look at the Nordic. They are a reliable piece. The bolt design copies a 10/22 and after six million of those you have to think they have that design down by now. The DPMS uses its own style charging handle and upper receiver to work with their bolt. This means that standard AR receivers or CH's can't be used. Also, as mentioned, no last round bolt latched back (as with the CMMG BHOA).

Its too early to tell but the DMPS might....might...be a little more accurate out of the gate that the base CMMG. CMMG does however have a target grade barrel they can supply for their upper which will equal or even surpass most any .22 standard production rifle out there. Of course, I don't expect CMMG to sit back and let anyone out-do them on the .22 arena.  I would look for the CMMG crew to match or surpass anything DPMS can present.

CMMG just has the momentum in the .22 AR market. They worked hard to get there and have spent some serious dough to get the results they do. Their designs show the thought and innovation of their creative people .  I give credit to Nordic and DMPS for offering a competing brand and style upper. How well will they do? Don't know, but we will all benefit from the competition to build a better rifle.

The Catch .22 is only compatable with Atchisson type BCG's, so no, it will not work with the DPMS bolt.
