Have you e-mailed them?
Don't they have a forum here? EDIT: Yes, they do have a forum: http://www.ar15.com/forums/f_2/145_CMMG_Inc.html For all we know, their voice mail system is kaput. |

I just called CMMG 2 days ago and got through and spoke to 2 people there..Maybe I just got lucky...We too have a CMMG Sierra upper and have never experienced any troubles you are talking about..I am sure they will take care of you but you should ask for help here..Theres some people here very knowledgeable abut the CMMG dedicated 22 uppers here and I bet they could help you out..What you are experiencings sounds very out of character for the CMMG dedicated uppers..
There has to be something strange going on here....It sounds rediculous that it will not even run more than two rounds..Has to be something simple to fix in my opinion..We run the federal bulk and everything runs great...I do know one thing I can suggest..What hammer are you running in the lower? I have heard that notched type hammers are a no go...Or something like that anyway... Also do you have the buffer spring in the tube? Are you running any kind of stiffer springs in the lower you are using? Just some ideas to look into maybe.. |

.I was using a Rock River lower and LPK.
Thanks for your input. I'm sure it can be fixed. I’m also sure if I played with it enough I could maybe get it to run. But this is a brand new upper direct from the factory, it should function. I shouldn’t have to mess with it they should fix it. If I wanted to do that I would have built it myself. Any gun that won’t function properly or requires special ammo is a firearm I don’t want to own. I know some guns are more accurate with certain ammo, but they should be able to fire whatever you feed it. I not it’s just a pretty stick. |

Yes I agree anything new you pay good money for should work..Just have followed the CMMG dedicated uppers for quite some time and have never heard of such a case of total failure out of the box...I am definitley very interested in what you find out..
I am also 100% sure CMMG will take care of you...Either way sorry to hear of your troubles and hope you get it figured out or get a full refund if thats what you desire..We absolutely love my Sons..I have more fun with his .22 upper than I have with my 223 for sure..If you can keep it and get it figured out you will be very thrilled that you did.. Oh do you happen to have another lower to try it on by chance? I am not saying that the RR would be the problem as I have a RR too and love it and my sons .22 upper runs great on my RR lower so probably not it but just trying to help..... Also did you clean it good before the first use to get any possible factory packing grease and such cleaned out? Also theres a thread here about buzzing the chamber to remove any factory machine marks or buurs and such in the chamber.. |

Two things here. CMMG gets probably 700 calls a day and many, many messages. Two ladies answer the calls in between taking orders, which add into the hundreds. Last I spoke with them, 1000 uppers have been going out a month.
The phone call complaints get on my last nerve. I speak with CMMG at least 4 times a week. I may have to make 3 or 4 calls to get through, but I always get to talk with someone. I use the same number everybody else does. E-mails without a subject go directly to spam. CMMG's internet was down for two days this week. The company is out in the sticks. If you followed the CMMG threads, you know exactly who to contact here with a problem. Try the upper on a different lower. It could be your bolt is hitting or rubbing an out of spec bolt catch. Different tolerances from different manufacturers or the same manufacturer will make a difference. Are you using a notched hammer? Are you using a buffer and spring in the lower? Is there movement front and rear in the bcg? Help is here, but if you want to come and complain about your upper and no customer service, you are on your own to get help. Regardless, the upper has a lifetime guarantee and CMMG has outstanding customer service. If they didn't, I wouldn't continue to work with them. CMMG has continued to have a 2% return for warranty percentage. That means 98% have run fine. Barring the issue being your particular set up, you might fall into that 2% in which case they will fix or replace it. Dave N There is a form on the web site for warranty work. Fill it out and send it in. Dave N |

Thank you for all your suggestions. I will try them.
It would have been nice to have heard any of these suggestions form CMMG. As I said before, I have left 4 messages for them over 3 weeks. They could have called me back in that time. I emailed them tonight. Hopefully they will answer that. I understand your loyalty to them and Im sure most of there products work well. Im not as upset about it not functioning as I am the lack of customer service. No matter the number of calls they get a week they need to return the warrenty calls. |

Its always frustrating when something doesn't work just right after you laid out your money. We all know that and will not argue that point.
The best way I have found to contact CMMG with a problem is to go to their site and fill this form out: Tech Support Its always been the fast way for me to get in touch with them. I know they want to fix your upper. If you aren't happy, they aren't happy. I will see these guys on Friday at Knob Creek and see what is up. If you have not heard from them let me know. |

SpecOps, Forever4, and myself act as a go between many times for CMMG. We test CMMG, BDM, and several other manufacturers products, answer questions, and provide help with our experience with these products. I have helped several guys get the help they needed.
The loyalty goes to working with companies that stand out and provide good customer service. And yes it's frustrating when you put money into something, then have issues with it. It's frustrating for me because if it was in front of me, I could probably figure out what is going on. Over the past few years I've seen every successful manufacturer go through this with a hot product. The system becomes over whelmed. It's not just CMMG. Dave N |
