I would just like to share some photos of my new CMMG dedicated .22lr upper.
I received it about 2 weeks ago and took it to the range on labor day.

First off, it would not cycle fiocchi 40g LSP's.
It cycled 36g Mini mags and federal bulk 36g bullets just fine.
We ended up shooting about 800rnds of federal bulk through it. Sucks that we only had one mag

I zeroed the MBUS (F marked front sight) and then the NcStar 4x32.
After that, it was game on. We had a few .22 targets and lots of clays to bust. It was really a blast.

MOE carbine length hand guards, magpul vertical grip, rear MBUS, YHM phantom, Stainless bolt upgrade, BCM gunfighter charging handle, and generic 1.25" sling.
USPS lost my PSA LPK so I didn't have a spare lower so the lower is my buddies PSA with PSA LPK, MOE grip and stock.

Me shooting. Like my new vest?!?! haha. Good picture of a spent casing flying off

I'm excited to chop the barrel when I finally get my PSA lower to SBR. 11.5" here I come

Cool write up and great pictures. Thanks for sharing with us.
Don't know what to say about the Fiocchi. Guess, just shoot
what it likes and have a blast....

It's too bad, I bought 500 rounds of it on clearance of $9.97. I ran fine through my 10/22 so no real complaints I guess.

I would like to try the new bolt hold open mags from CMMG but I'm in the dog house with the wife for buying the upper. haha.

The sling is a little too short to be used properly so I ordered a rail section for the MOE hand guards and I'll buy a sling mount that'll hook up there. It'll give me about 5" extra to work with which should be good enough.

I would agree with most that the M4 hand guards that come on it are probably not mil-spec but I replaced them before shooting so no biggie to me. Also, my charging handle showed up in tact - it must be a miracle! I never used that either so again, it's a moot point.

I also opted for the anodized finish which looks great.

Looks good!  I've almost saved enough ducets to get one myself.

I find a lot of ammo that won't work in the AR-22's will work great in my 10/22's..

I really like the MOE Handguards. Used a rifle length on my RMW 45 Win Mag...
Makes it look like a Space Gun.....

I would try the 40 gr. down the road after a good break in.

I still have like 300rnds of it left so I'll be sure to bring it next range trip.

The one thing I did notice was that the magpul magazine loop things do not fit tight, if you pull too hard they slide off so I wrapped two layers of duct tape on the mag to make it thicker and now they stay pretty well. I also took some flat black spray paint to the mag so it would match

Speaking of mags, the mags a plastic/polymer and there is a note attached to them when they come out of the box. It shows two places where you may need to file them down to get them to drop free. I put one in my LMT lower and literally had to put the gun on the bed, kneel on it, and yank the mag out the first time. I only had 220 grit sand paper at home and was scared to take the dremel to it so after about 10 minutes of sanding, it now comes out much easier - doesn't drop free but no real effort to get the mag out.

The tabs are there to adjust for a proper fit. A bad fit can cause feed problems. The mag should not be forced into the mag well. I see it over and over. The rifle won't cycle properly and the mag will not seat correctly.

I did the sanding at home before heading to the range so there was no change from when I tried the fiocchi and then moved to the CCIs and Federal.

+1. My broken in(About 8k) upper will shoot just about anything. It will even fire Remington golden(Friend bought a box and used it in it) and Subsonics with no problems.

Here too. Mine feeds pretty much anything now.

I have a couple questions about the upper.

Any way to mount a troy TRX on it?
If not can that front sight gas block be moved forward to simulate a rifle length hand guard?

I want to try and replicate my 15 inch TRX as best I can.

If all else fails I think just removing the front gas block it comes with and replacing it with a set screw one and a rifle length hand guard could work.

The FSB on the M4 LE is pinned. The railed gas blocks are set screwed.
Any rail will fit the CMMG .22 the same as any mil spec AR15.

I considered a two piece drop in rail but decided to save the cash and just pick up some MOE hand guards. I had never used the MOE hand guards before and I like them.

I just ordered a .22 upper today from CMMG that I'm planning on mounting a 11" Troy TRX to. I just had them quote me one minus the FSB, hand guards and delta ring assembly. Saved me a few bucks.

BTW: These don't have gas tubes so you don't need a gas block.

Thanks for the info, thats cool that you can call them and get a custom build.
I just went through the .22 picture thread and someone had a MOE rifle handguard on one and looks like it would be good enough for the short/mid term.  The actual TRX would come later.
