posting this here so maybe i can get some more input on how to fix the issue (originally posted on calguns.net) any help would be greatly appreciated i'm home now and have uploaded pics. pretty sure it's the mags now i just need to figure out why they are making the last (sometimes second or third to last) round stand straight up. did it with federal bulk 550 pack hollow points as well as with cci mini mag solid round nose bullets. please help on what to do about the mags really don't want to buy more and would like to be able to use this at an appleseed at the end of the month and would rather not have to send my mags back to cmmg. i trimmed the mags to where they dropped free which means they move around a tiny bit in the mag well but no more than my 5.56 mags do First day at the range with a new dedicated upper and the last round always gets jammed in the bcg. Its getting pinched at the top. Between the stainless bolt carrier and the collar that has the feed ramp on it but at the top not where the feed ramp is. Its like the rounds are feeding straight up. Does it with both fed 550 and cci mini mags with two diff cmmg10 round mags. Pics to follow I'm still at range trying to figure this out. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u147/psubond/IMAG0219-1.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u147/psubond/IMAG0220-1.jpg this is how the mags had been coming out if i eject them before they jam. now that i'm looking at the pic it looks like the mag is flipping me off. well f**k you too buddy  http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u147/psubond/IMAG0221.jpg this is not a typical malfunction only happened twice unlike the other type which got jammed in the bcg (first pic) http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u147/psubond/IMAG0222.jpg |

There was a thread about this same issue but I can't find it, these may offer some insight...
Feed lips are generally the cause... http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_2_145/208646_CMMG_Debacle_so_far.html http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_2_145/208610__22_Conversion_Failure_to_Feed.html |
| Hey, nice pics! This is the exact thing that started happening with my dedicated .22 pistol build! It started happening with all 3 of my 25 round BDM mags and it happens when there are < 9 or 10 rounds left. I believe it's the mags too and I'm going to try contacting BDM this week. |

Question for you psubond, When you pull the charging handle all the way back does the whole receiver plate move back a little and create a gap between the feed ramp and the entrance to the chamber? nope, no gap at all. this is a pic of me holding the charging handle back (gun is still dirty was too p****d off to clean it yesterday :( http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u147/psubond/IMAG0223.jpg |

talked to CMMG today and they are sending me some of the evolution gen 2 mags with metal followers. when i get them i'll be sending the defective mags back so all is well no harm no foul other than a bit of frustration at the range. easy to deal with customer service thanks Chris! |

Wow! OP you did good. The issue looks to be loose feed lips (I have seen exact same from my CMMG Gen 1 BHO mags). That or at least too much spring pressure for the given feed lips. Both are really the same.
Getting Gen 2 mags for Gen 1 CMMG BHO mags is quite a good deal!! I don't care for the Gen 1 mags at all, and have had Gen 2 on pre-order for months (haven't seen any yet ), ....
When you get them, please let us know how the Gen 2 mags work, in particular the BHO on Last Round. |
