I'm filling out a Form 1 for an SBR and I need to know the overall length of my firearm.

I'm putting a RRA 5 inch barrel on a standard RRA upper with a standard 6 position collapsible stock.

I would just as soon NOT put these various items together to measure for obvious reasons.

Anyone have a similar set up and measurement for me?

If no one gives you an answer by the time I get off work, I'll measure mine.
You might try in the SBR forum under the ARMORY also.

Do you have a standard AR-15?  If so, measure that and subtract the barrel length difference.

Example:  16" barrel AR might have an OAL of 27.5" (Just a guess, I don't have one here at work.  ).  Subtract 11" if you have a 5" bbl, and you get an OAL of 16.5".

You will need to measure your overall length with the stock fully extended.

Check in this thread most of the way down..

I then brilliantly extrapolated the following:

5.00" barrel = 23.50” Extended

7.00" barrel = 25.50” Extended

9.25" barrel = 27.75” Extended

The overall length is irrelevant as your barrel tripped the registration requirement. Your Form 1 will clear regardless of the value you assign to overall.

I've always wondered about this for my SBR....I SBR'ed it originally with a 9mm 11.5" barrel, it now is a .22lr with a 7.5" barrel.....obviously the barrel and OAL have changed, but I've never been too concerned, since an SBR is for anything less than 16", so who really cares, right, but does the ATF?  I guess I didn't give it much thought, since I have a F/A MP5/40 that I dont have paperwork for when I am out shooting (LE, owned by my agency) and have never had issues with that.

belive it or not, the ATFE isnt going to break down your door if youre off on the form 1.  i had mistakes on mine and they returned it with notes showing/explaining what needed to be corrected.  They even had a phone number to the AIC and i called and actually got him on the first try.  No press 1 for English. 2 for whatever.  IAC, he was really helpfull and not even a slightest hint of YOURE NOT SUPPOSE TO HAVE A GUN Attitude.  He even explained to me where i should document the various calibers on the form and other items.

If you have any qustions, i woudlnt hesitate to call them.
