Hi All

I want to replace the old AF M261 I have with a 22 conversion with that does the following -
if anyone can point to me the mfg who has this, it would be greatly appriciated.

My 22 is a basic AR15A2 with a 20" 1/12 twist bbl, no gas tube.

1:  stainless or chrome plated carrier assembly
2:  works with standard AR barrel
3:  has foward assist notches (not that I'll ever use them)
4:  uses standard AR15 magazine with the adaptor installed
(i'm flexible on #4, though it would be nice to maintain the look of a stock rifle, but if the replacement magazines are of good quality i'll switch)

Thanks in advance, I know nothing of 22 adaptors.

CMMG will give you what you need. However, you will need mags.
It has forward assist, and bolt hold actuator as options.

I think Spikes or CMMG are the only ones that offer stainless/chromed..  (the CMMG is a copy of the Atchikson/Ciener unit, and the Spikes is a slightly modified Ciener.

As mentioned they dont use standard AR mags though.. BUT you can get some good mags from Black Dog Machine

Black Dog also carriers replacement parts for Ciener/CMMG, and a few parts for the Spikes

+1 on CMMG.  I was a machinist for 20+ years and I can tell you these are quality parts.  Other than that, CMMG has a bolt hold open drop in (sold separately) that will give you the same bolt lock back as the 5.56 version.  Some companies advertise BHO magazines but they only hold the bolt open when the magazine is in, bolt slams forward when they are removed.  You will need the BHO magazines from CMMG with the short black follower, not the long green one.  And, you can get the stainless bolt with FA.  It's all win, win.

Spikes isn't selling bolts anymore.

For what you've asked, CMMG would appear to be your only option
without doing some further work after you buy. CMMG offers all that
you've asked about in 1 place with no further work needed....

You want a CMMG evolution conversion with the forward assist adapter and some BDM billet aluminum mags.

Curious - why are you replacing the M-261?

BTW, the Air Force conversion and the M-261 are not the same.
