Thanks.
I'm sorry I deleted everything yesterday. I am just overwhelmed by all the options and having been very frustrated with the Ceiner kits, want to make the right decision and get something that is RELIABLE. I am ordering the Evolution this morning after calculating the savings cost in just 1000 rounds of .223 vs .22lr, it makes the decision easy. I just hope it works. Thanks, mp |

All the companies your interested in make uppers with better reliability than some Ciener's.
CMMG and Spike's offer complete rifles. All those you listed as choices are good about standing behind their products. All run with BDM and CMMG Magazines. All can offer you the barrel contour you want. You can leave, move or remove the gas block / front sight. The barrel collar goes in place of the chamber adapter on the bolt assembly of a dedicated 22 barrel. Bolt Hold Open is nice to keep similar function to a standard AR. Not absolutely a deal breaker though. Stainless is just plain nice. If for no other reason.... Deal on CMMG's with this as a free upgrade next 2 days. Some parts just make maintenance much easier... CMMG. Stainless kit is the easiest to clean and maintain. You tell me if something still confuses you. I'll try to help. SpecOps-13 |

It helps in that it will stay cleaner, longer. The parkerized collar will work fine, just takes a little longer to fully wear in.
For the $12.50, yes, I would recommend the upgrade. Both the stainless and parkerized kits are very, very reliable. The stainless takes less break in, less lube and stays cleaner longer. Dave |

Do you have to remove the collar to clean? I do not. And CMMG does not recommend it. I just hold the bolt back, spray some cleaner and use a tooth brush to clean the face of the bolt and the feed ramp. Only time you should need to remove the collar from the bolt/carrier is in the event of replacing a firing pin or extractor. The collar stays on the BCG. I like CMMG's set up fpr the dedicated uppers/barrels as the collar/bcg has a spring detent which snaps into a groove machined on the barrel extension. The kit does not move under recoil. Dave |
