| anyone have an active link to the thread on modifying 9mm upper to the original Colt configuration to take the c-products and other mags, all the links I could find are dead due to age i think. I know it involves releaving the rails in upper to clear the mags but pics would help if I can find them. Believe was for Rock River but need to do same to a Double Star not shure if the machine there own 9mm parts or get from outside but think they do since waited 8 months for them to get in it may be a Rock River upper.... thanks in advanced for info |

If you remove the bolt from your upper, close the upper back onto the lower, and insert a magazine into the lower, you will see the area where the magazine touches the sides of the upper receiver when looking through the ejection port opening.
I marked an area 1/4 inch fore and aft of where the magazine was touching the inside of the upper receiver. Then I removed the upper receiver and used a dremel to relieve a small amount of material on both sides (ON THE INSIDE ONLY) where i had previously marked the upper. You can tell when you have taken enough material off the inside of the upper because the magazine will appear much looser in the mag well (about the same amount of movement as the magazine has when you insert a magazine into the mag well with the upper half removed). |
