Just received my Spike's Dedicated upper

It has been in Customs for two weeks.

Checked it over, looks very nice, cant wait to shoot it

when I tried to cycle some rounds, ( SAFELY ) it was not extracting them.

I know extracting loaded rounds can be a pain but it should be possible

i took some pictures of the extractor

does this seem ok or is my extractor chipped,
or damaged in anyway

http://i880.photobucket.com/albums/ac7/double__mike/IMAG0011.jpg

it looks as if the hook of the extractor only has a small tip to catch the rim
I could be machined to have this angle but it  looks as it is damaged
I have nothing to compare it to I can't compare it to the picture on the Spike's website as the other side of the extractor
is shown

Hope the hive can help.

I tried to find a picture that would tell all but the ones on the Spike's Tactical Website are shown
from the wrong direction. There's a post in their industry forum that has no pictures. I can't access
my rifles at the moment but I know the extractors have an angle. Not sure if yours is too pronounced
or not. Several of my conversions and dedicated bolts fail at times to grab unfired cartridges but work
fine on fired cases. They're not all Spike's Bolts. I'll try to find an answer tomorrow if one hasn't already
been given.

No it's not right. I have an extra and it doesn't look like that. It should be a smooth angle.

-MasterChief-: This is a fully functional Spike's Extractor. I know they had issues in the past
and offer an "Enhanced Extractor" on their website. I wanted to be sure before condemning
but your extractors edge does look odd. Shouldn't be a problem to get them to replace it.
Most manufacturers have or have had extractor issues to some extent and have tried beveling
/ tapering the edge to make better contact with the shape of the case.

I just got back from the range,
I think im still smiling ear to ear and have a warm fuzzy feeling.

this was fun,fun,fun,ggreatt ffunn

everything worked as it should be, had a few fte's but I think this was from being
brand spanking new.

FYI got a reply Badazzar15 AKA Tom in the indusry forum.

My ST-22 has the same exact extractor.  Sent a pic to Tom and he said it is really like that as it is thier enhanced extractor.  Yah, I thought it had a chip too.

Pete

Yup, it's fine.

just shot about 200 rounds thu it,
CCI Std –– CCI minimag –– CCI minimag HP–– CCI Blazer,
Geco std –– Sellier&Bellot HV HP –– Fed Am Eagle HV

everything fed and fired fine, had a few hicups but it think that was due to being new.

Great Upper very glad to have bought it i n stead of a V22

Hmm. Odd, my "new and improved" extractor didn't look like that. Either way, thats some quality machine work.
