[ARCHIVED THREAD] - 9mm Gas System?

Do 9mm ARs use the same gas system as traditional ARs? For some reason I was thinking that they operated by recoil rather than gas.

So I don't need a gas block or front sight on the barrel at all?

I took the one off my flattop RRA and had the barrel contoured down,
I think it looks better without the gas block.
