| I've decided to get a dedicated upper instead of a conversion kit. M4 store has CMMG uppers for $465 and PK has Tac Sol uppers for $499 + $14 shipping. Is the Tac Sol upper that much better than the CMMG? Also, BDM has their Tac Sol uppers for $499 + $20 shipping and they come with 2 mags instead of the one mag that comes with the PK upper, only hitch is BDM is out until lat Feb, should I just order the upper from PK or wait and try to get one from BDM and hope the price doesn't go up? |
| I went ahead and ordered the Tac Sol M4 upper and a spare mag from PK, I figured being in stock for $20 more was better than waiting and hoping BDM got more in at the cheaper price and didn't sell out before I could get one ordered. I plan on putting this on the DSA lower with CMMG lpk that I put together last night. I will post pics after I receive everything. |

I HAD a CMMG .22 upper. Had being the key word. I ended up selling it on the EE, took a bath for what I paid for it. Mine with federal bulk was hitting in that 12 MOA area. Groups looked like shotgun patterns. It had been back to the factory twice for broken back plates on the bolt. CMMG fixed it but when I was seeing all these other people getting nice tight groups with their TacSol's and Spikes it really made me not like it. CMMG must not like them much either since they no longer have them listed on their website.
I have a TacSol now and am very happy. |

gunner76: You won't be sorry that you got the Tac Sol M4. It's a very accurate and reliable
upper. it's just short of being a serious competition upper and far from being just a plinker. As has been the case with other uppers it's most accurate with CCI Green Tag Ammo. TS-M4 seems to be happy with almost anything you want to feed it, I don't think I've tried Remington Golden Bullets in it, Don't think I will. Spec |

Spec Which .22 uppers do you consider serious competition? I Like my TS LT and may be interested in a second .22. |

There is a new one on the block......do a search for "Nordic 22 upper" in google. There is a thread in the Brian Enos Forum with pictures.
Here's a link to magazine dump....note how far the brass comes out: Nordic Components AR15 –– 22rf upper |

I bought a CMMG Wasp M4 22LR upper from my local dealer for $ 425.00 w/ one mag. I have a fixed 4x Leapers compact on it. I love this thing!! The most fun ever. I have a couple do-all AR-spinners set up in the field behind my house. I can hit a 2-1/2" round top plate at 50 yards & the 4" bottom plate at 100 yards; all day long using cheap Federal 550 or Winchester 333 36g HP's. The 4X is zeroed at 50-yards & exactly one mil dot down will give me a zero @ 100-yards. Too bad CMMG quite making these.
BTW - I actually went to the gun shop to buy a S&W MP15-22 before I was accosted by the CMMG. |

I like being different and went the route of the Razorback .22lr belt-fed upper thru Lakeside Machine...also just ordered the pistol conversion for it as well so I'll be able to have a belt-fed AR rifle and also convert it to a belt-fed AR pistol on a pistol lower I have. But a Tac Sol M4 upper is on the short list as well and will probably be next once I receive my Thompson Machine integrally suppressed .22lr AR upper called the Clandestine. I think I'll have to start buying more AR lowers for these .22lr uppers as I won't want to keep swapping them back and forth. |

Adam of Ballistic Advantage talked to me a while back about an Anschutz Barrel with a match chamber. He never followed through but I suspect that would be serious. Spike's Lothar Walther 18" Bull Barrel, Redtazdog has a Tac Sol SBX with a very impressive 10 shot group at 50 yards. Clint Beyer is making barrels for AR's. The 8" I'm shooting is very accurate, I suspect his longer barrels are serious too. By Serious, I'm thinking sub 1/4" at 25 yards, 3/8" at 50 yards. 5 shot groups. Some may be capable of 10 shot groups that size, don't know if I'm that good. I'm sure there are others that should be on the list. These are the ones I personally know of. Spike's M4 Lothar Walther is borderline of making this list. That's my Cut Off Point. Spec |
