I didn't want to hi-jack the other thread so goes. I bought one of the kits and have tried to run approx. 400rds through it, about half have actually fired. I 've tried Fed, Rem and CCI and still I get FTF, FTE. I've "buzzed" the chamber and oiled it as per the instuctions.
When it fails to eject the case gets stuck in the chamber and I have to get a cleaning rod to knock it out. When it fails to fire to fire, the round doesn't go all the way into battery, the extractor doesn't slip over the rim of the case and i get a light stike. On a couple of occasions it's doubled and at least once tripled, then jammed. Anyone got a pic of the rounded hammer. I have a Model 1 sales M4 kit on a RRA lower, that has never given me problems with factory ammo or my reloads. |
| I received my cmmg kit yesterday and tried it in my 7.5" pistol and had miserable results. Then I read something somewhere on another kit mfgr's website about not working well in short barrels. Thought that might be my problem. So I decided to put it in my 16" DPMS but it was getting dark so I didn't want to fire it until morning. But after I put it in the DPMS and was cycling the bolt several times by hand I noticed it seemed to be hanging up. On careful inspection I noticed looking at the bolt through the ejection door that the vertical pin that sticks up on the bolt just in front of the notch that opens the ejection door was sticking uo a good 1/16" or so. I tapped it down a bit and then cycled the bolt a few times and it seemed better. Just took the rifle outside this morning and emptied a full 26 round mag without a glitch! Haven't tried it in the pistol yet but I'm about to, stay tuned... |
| OK just tried it in the 7.5" pistol and it worked perfectly! CMMG are you listening? I have a feeling that anybody who is having this failure to feed, eject, etc problem ought to look at this pin. It came from the factory without this pin being fully seated. I 'm pretty sure thats the extractor pin. |
| Good to know. I'll be ordering one soon. Even better knowing it run in the 7.5" That is what I'll be running one in. As far as the short barrel not working, certain manufacturers use that as an excuse as to why their conversion doesn't work. Shorter barrels will decrease pressure but there are many other factors such as feed ramps having too much angle, rough, out of spec bores, bent rails causing drag, ect.. |

I bought a rounded hammer at the gunshow yesterday and put it in this morning. Still jams about 90% of the time, most I got was 2 shots in a row after 3mags. The empty case only comes about halfway out of the chamber and the the bolt tries to slam another round into the back of it. http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o44/montecarlo97/100_2846_800x591.jpg http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o44/montecarlo97/100_2843_774x600.jpg You got the trouble shooting bases covered. Shoot us over an email and we will get a call tag sent so you can get to shooting! |

They sent me a replacement and it is worlds better than the first. It has extracted every one of the 600+ rounds I've shot through it so far. Have had about 10 stovepipes out of all those rounds but not one Failure to extract. It is so much more fun to shoot now. |

There have been several threads about CMMG Conversion Failures. This seems to be more
than the norm for their units. Contacting them for a return may be the best option left... They will do what is necessary to get you up and reliable. IM CMMG or call them would be a good route to go.. Spec |
| I had the parkerized kit, and it was tight in my 6920, and would not even fit in my CAR-15 (A2). I lubed and hand cycled a few hundred times, and still had bullets that looked like yours. I returned it to Brownells (great service) and got the stainless version. Slides in both Colts with no effort, and perfect function. And this is with the notched hammer. |

Got my kit back Thurs. and tried it out today. Out of around 200rds had 2 stove pipes but no FTF or FTE which is better than my 10/22. I'm VERY happy with the kit and Customer Service. Thanks It's always great to hear about great customer service and a happy ending. |

What upper do you have and what mags are you using? |

How long did it take to get your kit back? |

If you don't have a rounded hammer, try that. If no luck, we will send for it. There are typically only 3 things that go wrong, ammo, chamber or hammer. Sounds like you have covered 2 of the 3 for sure. i'm getting a ss conv kit, what ammo do you recommend in 1:7 barrel, will the bulk ammo function ok? if i use the round hammer lower. people say the accuary is horrible if i shoot bulk ammo in 1:7 barrel, have you done any test on that? |

Take a look at our website and the accuracy charts we have posted there for different ammo. All of these were shot with a Colt with 1:7 barrel.
If you guys want to avoid all the issues with FTF, FTE try our conversion kit. We spent the last year refining the product to avoid these type problems. You won't be disappointed! AR15conversions |

Quoted: We typically run Federal or Aguila. About the only ammo that has been problematic is Remington. Make sure that the chamber is cleaned as described in the trouble shooting section(this needs to be done on a regular basis). If it isn't a dirty chamber, notched hammer or ammo, we want to get this back so you can go shooting!Quoted: If you don't have a rounded hammer, try that. If no luck, we will send for it.
