If anyone could post a couple of pics for me, I would greatly appreciate it. I am looking for close-up pics of Colt 6450 bolts. I am trying to find accurate pictures of the bolt, so I need to be 100% sure it is Colt. I am specifically looking for the gas key area.

Also, would it be accurate to assume that a 9mm bolt is not under the same stresses that a 5.56 bolt is? Therefore, swapping used bolts with new uppers and vise versa would cause NO issues with the upper/headspace? I am trying to piece a couple of uppers together, but I have some used bolts and some new bolts and I want to be sure that I am not creating problems. If I am, I will just buy new bolts.

Thanks!

The only discernable difference between a Colt 9mm bolt and aftermarket (other than VM-HYTECH machining marks) is that Colt uses socket head cap screws that use a smaller hex key than a standard socket head cap screw.

You will be fine swapping 9mm bcg's around as there is no locking bolt that wears in conjunction with the bbl extension.  It’s still advisable to check that you have some (.010 to .020) protrusion of the bcg from the rear of the upper receiver when in forward battery.

Ryan,
Thank you for the reply. I have a used Colt bolt and a new Colt upper and I did not want to use it on the new upper if it will have a negative effect on anything. I also have a new RRA bolt that looks identical to the Colt bolt and I thought about just using that, as Colt bolts are so difficult to come by. Any suggestions on using a new RRA bolt instead of a used (about 500 rds) Colt bolt? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
