I've been wanting to get a 40 cal upper for a while now. I don't really like either setup Olympic offers due to magazine options. I remember seeing that someone had a 40 cal using sten mags and that set up looked good. Someone else also posted a DI 40 a couple months ago too.

Anyway now for my questions. Would an olympic arms 40 upper work with a 9mm block like the hahn precision? I loaded some 40's into my CP 9mm mags and they fit (just not as many). But they looked like the feed angle would be too high. So I figured that with the olympic ejector removed and using the dedicated 9mm block I may be able to get 40's running with the 40 upper (with some slight mods to the mags and/or block if needed). What do you guys think? Worth trying or no way that it would work?

Ok and if this won't work what other options are there? I've been waiting forever for the RRA 40 but there is no telling when that thing will be released. I emailed them a year ago and they told me summer 2009 and it didn't happen............... Also if i cant get a gas blowback how are the DI 40's?

*****Just checked RRA's website and they show the LAR40 available. Anyone get one yet?

Oly has to work with the modified mags only.

Make it easier, just oreder the RRA 40s&W.
I ordered mine a while back during the ShOT Show through my dealer.
It is to work with my dedicated RRA 9mm lower, just different mags.

Ya, I wrote all that before I knew that the RRA 40 could actually be ordered now. I'm gonna get mine ordered ASAP. When you ordered yours did you get an estimated shipping date?

At SHOT Show RR said summer would be when they would start shipping. But they did not know what type of mags they would use.

I would like to know about the mags as well.

Yep, mags are everything. The biggest weakness I see with the 9mm AR platform is the mags. Give us a new design, not surplus 50 year old mags, but inexpensive.

The mags for the new LAR40 are proprietary.

Antone know if they're available seperately? Price?

I've just asked both in the RRA industry forum and directly through their web site-along with whether or not they'll be selling shorter barrels for pistol and SBR use.  I'll post as soon as I get a reply to either inquiry.

I ordered mine with mags, just no date for delivery.  Personally that does not bother me.  It allows me to get the other toys I need
for when it comes in

I just put an amount down to get it ordered ASAP. That way I hopefully get mine sooner.
The price of the mag is to be the same of the 9mm.

That would make it $35.  Not horrible.
