Once I get my DI upper in I have some 230g plated and even some 200g SWC loaded with unique. If you shoot me an email or IM in a couple weeks I'll let you know how it goes. I'll also post a range report here if you want to keep your eyes open for that...

Well, went out and checked some loads I worked up today. Temp about 70deg

All  were shot out of Rons  GasUpper .45
All used the standard buffer except
the 231 I tested and that I used the light buffer.
Brass was range brass and col was different
due to different makers of brass. Winchester primers used
and Roze dist 230 fmj bullets used. Readings were taken
from Chrony at a distance of 10ft.
All fed great. Only malfunctions were with 231 powder (very light loads)
which were too light for even the no weight buffer so I excluded them
unless you really want the readings.

Bullet wt.                    Powder wt.             Velocity
230fmj                          7.9g AA5                    830-845fps                    Accurate #5
230 fmj                         8.1g AA5                    852-871fps
230fmj                          8.3g AA5                    909-931fps
230 fmj                         8.7g AA5                    960-1001fps

230fmj                          9.4g BD                       835fps                           Blue Dot Powder
230fmj                          9.6g BD                       919-933fps
230fmj                          9.8g BD                       960-966fps
230fmj                          10g BD                        983fps
230fmj                          10.2g BD                     994-1011fps

230fmj                          6.0g Unique                 870-880fps                    Unique Powder
230fmj                          6.2g Unique                 886-912fps
230fmj                          6.4g Unique                 919-924fps
230fmj                          6.6g Unique                 940-959fps
230fmj                          6.8g Unique                 980-1031fps

The best powder of these as far as ejection and hard hitting were BlueDot @ 6.8g
Really worked great.  The down side is BlueDot is kind of a pain on a Dillon 550 and when
loading near max charges you can have .4g variances so once I got near the max charge I
had to weigh each charge to make sure it was right.

I really liked the way AA5 metered and was pretty consistant in velocities. I will use this one also
Probably the 8.5-8.7g load.

The winner over all as the easiest of weighing out and consistancy and also shot really nice plus
is probably the cheapest and easiest to find (here anyway)
I will have to go with Unique.  6.6-6.8g shot really nice. 6.0-6.2 was like shooting WWB .45

Now something else. I also ran some out of my Colt S80 5in. and the velocities were pretty much the same.
I thought they would be a big increase in velocity from 5-19in of barrel but I tried it with several different
loads and there were no big changes. All were less than 50fps.
Any way was a good excuse to get out and enjoy the weather and shoot some steel before it exceeds
the century mark in temps.
