was wondering if anybody opened up their magwell for the ar45 vs how it came from cncguns?  was thinking of doing a 10% unit and was wondering what size to open it up too?  i have a khalan finished lower from batch 1 and it is a bit tight for the surplus mags i have received - thought on the 2nd one since i would be doing it myself to open it up a bit, but don't want to open too much as i want it loose enough so i don't have to square up the mags in a vice but tight enough where there is not an issue w/ mag wobble or feeding problems.  any dims would be very helpful.  i have read that some people that got theirs done from thompson machine had them opened up a bit, any way i could get those specs?

no disrespect to cncguns, tc or anyone else

Send me an email at work ...no measuring tools here at home

I'll measure mine in the morning...I have a Thompson and both GI and new prodiction almost rattle...........but the mags drop free and it shoots magnificiently.

Every surplus mag I've purchased required it to be squeezed a little in a vice to square up the mag. The AR45 magwell is square and made with a CNC machine, The surplus mags were made in two style by who knows how many mfr's during WWII. There amount of material in the sides of the AR45 magwell is not any thicker than a standard magwell, so not much room to machine out extra material. Fit the $20 mags to the $300 lower not the other way around.

I haven't had to do the squeeze techinque with Keepshooting brand mags but they are new manufacture.

1.1 x 1.550.....just a quick measurement with a caliper....didn't drag out the snap guages............but I agree with TC....fortunately I have 35 mags...a mix of keep shooting and GI....and all mine fit and feed flawlessly with no modification at all......
