Hey folks, I recently bought an M&P 15-22 and first off, the rifle is great. Good fit and finish and it feels pretty good in the hand. However, I have an affinity to modifying my firearms, all except my carry piece, so I set out to update the look and feel of the 15-22. I wanted to let you guys know about issues I ran into in case anyone else was going to venture down the same road.

Magpul MOE Stock

No problems with the install what so ever, just order the Mil-spec version. The MOE is tighter than the original M4 stock but it was not hard to put on.

Magpul MIAD Grip
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w21/kmkviper/The%2022s/IMGP1566.jpg
Depending on which backstrap you choose, there will be a gap between the bottom of the tube and the top of the backstrap. Also the spring that holds the takedown pin in place does not fit very well with the MIAD grip. If you are not careful when putting the MIAD grip on, the spring becomes useless and the takedown pin can fall out.

Magpul XTM Modular Full Profile Picatinny Rail Cover and Low Pro Ladder Cover
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w21/kmkviper/The%2022s/IMGP1574.jpg
These went on very easily as is to be expected. The rails on the 15-22 are longer than standard carbine rails so it takes more than one pack of the XTMs to cover an entire rail. It takes a pack and a half to cover the entire rail on the 15-22. The Ladder Cover snaps on and off easily.

Magpul Magazine Pulls

These work as to be expected and fit fine on the 15-22 25 round mags.

Nice job on the add-ons.

Like you, I can't go without making enhancements. I'll get some pics up of mine when I get a chance.

Couple pics of mine now with accessories –– 1) ProMag stock buttpad, 2) Command Arms cheekweld saddle, 3) Hogue grip, 4) CenterPoint 3-9x scope on ProMag 1-pc. mount, 5) Burris FastFire 4-MOA dot on 45-degree offset railmount (just turn rifle slightly to left to access with close-in shots), Command Arms folding foregrip, Blackhawk tactical sling, aftermarket flashhider to give it the "real" AR look.

The scope is a cheap fixed power Leapers scope. It is a RGB Illuminated Mil dot I bought at a pawn shop for $15 a number of years ago. It works quite well on .22 and air rifles, it holds it zero well. The next purchase for the rifle will be a Primary Arms M3 Multi Reticle and a 4x Magnifier, when they come back in stock.

I think this is the closest one scope to the one I have.

All in all, it works well but I would not want to rely on it in battle.

You might want to look at the M4 Clone that Primary arms is selling! It's a very nice Red Dot for the money only problem is he's out of stock and doesn't except more until February!

Not sure which rifle you're referring to, but if mine, shoots quite well using Federal 36-gr. HP's available in the bulk packs.
