I have a RRA CL 16 inch midlenth upper with freefloated rail,Im wondering how difficult it would be to use a spikes 22lr gas port plug.I plan to make it dedicated if its fairly easy to do
|
| If you buy a spikes conversion kit it comes with a small cap/plug to put in the upper receiver on the end of the gas tube. Other members have cut off the gas tube and crimped the cut end inside the handguard. Either way you go the gas tubes aren't expensive and usually fairly easy to replace. |
Not to hijack this tread, but I just used a Dremel cutoff wheel to cut an inch or so off the foreward end of an old gas tube and pinned it back in upside down in an upper I'm prepping for Christmas morning. I'm new to this whole .22 conversion thing and may be way out in left field.

Hey specops-13 , it has standard front sight, so i think i can get to the roll pin.Can i just pull the gas tube through the back of the upper. LOOK AT AGPARMS.COM to see upper . Thanks reciever Quoted:
If you can get to the Gas tube and roll pin it's one thing. If you have to pull the hand guard and it will go past the gas block it's not too bad. If you have to pull the barrel to get to the gas block and pin,,, it's a PITA........ Good Luck, Spec |

OK,So now we are talking about a low profile gas block and just removing the rail, which i should beable to without messing with the barrell nut Quoted:
It may be possible to pull the tube out the back, but then how are you going to get the Spike's piece back in and aligned for the pin? Spec |
