Does the complete CMMG 22LR upper half use their standard drop-in 22LR conversion or a special
dedicated bolt group?

It uses a CMMG Dedicated Bolt Assembly. The collar that fits on to the barrel has a smaller opening than others
to mate with the CMMG barrel,  I think CMMG's collar opening is 0.460 and others use 0.500. I believe
CMMG uses a set screw to hold the collar and bolt in place.

Sorry I don't know any more, I tested their SST Conversion, it was reliable from the first shot. It's made of
stainless steel. Haven't actually seen one of their dedicated uppers, The above is what I've learned reading
about their upper. I saw that you didn't have any real answer, so I tried. Hope I'm right in what I said.

Good Luck,
Spec

As someone who owns a CMMG upper I wish this deal would of been out when I bought my CMMG upper.   Both of those uppers BDM is selling is much more accurate then the CMMG one.  Now do not get me wrong there is nothing wrong with the CMMG upper,  They have stood behind it and I have the greatest respect for the company.  It has been very reliable but, No matter what the best group I have gotten has been between 4 and 5 moa most in the 6 moa and I have tried several types of ammo.   I am pretty sure it is not me because I can shoot 1 moa unsupported prone with my no where near stock 10/22, Made Appleseed Rifleman first try.  I have considered selling my CMMG and buying one of those Tac Sol uppers.

To clarify a bit more for AR180, the only difference in the bolt groups is that, as SpecOps says, the dedicated has a collar clipped on the front to mate the bolt to the dedicated barrel, while the conversion has the chamber adapter instead of this collar, to allow use of the conversion in a standard .223/5.56 chamber.
