Would those of you using conversion kits please comment on their accuracy. FWIW, the rifle is a RRA Elite Comp. Thanks in advance for your comments.

using only a conversion kit (stock 556 barrel) my accuracy seems to fluctuate.. shot to shot so its hard to measure

using a dedicated upper i can ping one of the 3" spinner targets +90% of the time shooting from a sitting position - that is using the federal bulk ammo..

Although they had firing pin issues and no aftermarket mags, the DPMS dedicated rimfire uppers were very accurate.
I see people posting 25 yard shot groups from their new school .22 kits that look like 50 yard groups from my old rifle (and I ain't that good).
Would be interested to hear comparison to today's crop of conversions (Spikes, CMMG, TacSol) to the Panther Arms kit by shooters who owned both.

Check this link out, I've been shooting conversions for years. I started a topic to compare the conversion units to the dedicated uppers. I did some target comparisons with high round counts shooting from a bench at a moderately fast Rate of fire. It shows the accuracy difference between barrel twist rates.

I can directly comment on the differences between the DPMS M4, DPMS Bull, Spike's, and Tactical Solutions, having owned all four of them. I sold the DPMSs recently because of the magazine incompatibility with the Ciener based ones. The Spike's was problematic, and I kept the Tactical Solutions...for now. I'm considering selling that one too because the concept of needing to clean a gun every few hundred rounds is totally foreign to me. The only time my DPMS uppers needed cleaning was when I sold them. They were easily the most reliable uppers, running anything, and never needing cleaning. On the other hand, they were both bought used, so they were probably well broken in.

I tried copying this over from my Excel file charting my shooting. All were done at about 48 yards off of a Harris bipod. No rear rest. The first value is the load, the second is the number of 5 shot groups I measured, the third was the average, and the fourth was the minimum of them. A CZ-452 Varmint was thrown in there as an additional control.
