I just got my Spikes 9mm Upper in the mail (only took them two weeks to get it to me, THANKS) and I couldn't be happier with it. I started putting together my dedicated 9mm AR pistol (untill tax stamp comes back - then SBR) when I ran into a problem.
I purchased a C-products 9mm Mag Block and 8 C-products 9mm magazines. The mags will not lock into the block. Any suggestion as to how to fix this? If I need to throw out the C-products block which one do you recommend? Can the block you recommend be used with the c-products mags? TRIGGER QUESTION Will a Geisselel trigger work in a dedicated 9mm upper (using KNS pins)? |

Lots of people seem to have bad luck with the new C P. mag. block, I have not used it, but I have used the 32 rd C P. mags in a RRA 9mm/RRA mag block with 4 out of 5 mags working 100%, I never really messed with the 5th mag to try and fix it. CP. claims to be the supplier of mags to Colt............I don't think the prancing pony would like their mag block either My free advice––Shitcan the magblock, buy a Hahn or RRA block and a couple of colt or spikes 9mm mags and hope most of your C P. mags work. |

Since Im using a dedicated lower for this would you suggest the Hahn Dedicated Mag Block? Are there any reasons for me not to use this block? |
| I think you are referring to the pinned in style of magblock, Probably need to have that installed by a good ar smith, they will drill thru your lower magwell and hold the block in with roll pins. Great system for a dedicated lower, that is how colt 9mms come. The hahn top load magblock is also an excellent choice. |

At least that what I understand with it: http://www.hahn-precision.com/armory/products/dedicated_adapter.htm |

I have a RRA .223 lower with a RRA 9mm mag well insert. It works 100% with ProMags, Modified Uzi, and with the four C-Products mags. I had to adjust the block very carefully but once that was done its been smooth sailing. The mag release is the standard AR release and it works fine with all these magazines. It took me a few trips out to the range to develop the "feel" for locking in the 9mm mags. They are a bit more picky than the .223 mags are due to the shorter mag latch. (It has to go through the insert before actually getting to the magazine.)
I have not heard anything good about the C-Products insert. I did see some vendors had them on clearance sale. That says a lot about them. Good luck with your NINE. They are fun guns for sure. |

I use an RRA block and C Products mags with 100% function in three different builds. If you get a dedicated mag block like the Hahn dedicated, you can't adjust the block up or down. I have seen folks who said C Prod mags worked with the Hahn dedicated block, but I like being able to adjust it in case I want to use some other kind of mags.
Also, this may be a dumb question, but do you have your mag catch screwed in far enough? I had one that was slightly out of spec and had to be screwed in a little more (with a few threads poking out the button/release side) to catch and hold 5.56 mags reliably. As for the trigger - you would need to ask Spike's or CMMG (assuming it has a CMMG ramped bolt in it). Some fancy (2-stage or oddly-shaped single-stage) hammers work right and some don't. |
| I had the same problem with an RRA block in my Spike's lower and actually had recently posted about it. I noticed that there was enough space between the outer walls of the mag block and the the mag well that it prevented the magazine release from protruding far enough into the mag block to positively engage the notch in the magazine. I have (temporarily at least) fixed it by pushing the mag block to the left while tightening the set screw. I had the same problem with another RRA mag block that I sent back to Spike's. That unit, however, was visibly out of spec with the lateral wall of the block on the left slightly buckled inward enough that magazines wouldn't drop free. I suspect in my case that I either got two bad mag blocks or that the dimensions of Spike's mag well are slightly over sized. Since you are having a similar problem with a different manufacturers mag block it's probably the latter. |
