To those that have an 22 upper from model 1. It looks like the bore comes out about 1 1/2" to 2" more in the ejection port than a regular 223 barrel. Is that where they measure it from to make it 16"?

The reason I'm asking is that I just recieved my upper today and I compared it to my 16" stag upper and it seems to be a bit short and I'm kind of worried.

I posted a thread in the AR disscusion before I noticed the bore sticks out a little more than I'm used to seeing.

Thanks

A 16in barrel in a .22 upper will seem shorter than a 16in AR barrel as so much of the barrel is inside the receiver. Its a 16incher, you just don't have as much exposed.

Here's how BATF measures barrel length...

With an empty chamber, close the bolt.  Drop a cleaning rod down the barrel from the muzzle, until it touches the bolt face.  Mark the rod at the end of the barrel (not the end of any removable muzzle device).  Withdraw the rod and measure from the end to the point you marked.

1 1/2 inch inside of the rec makes it look lik a 14.5 barrel even with a can.

.
Notice the difference in length standard 16 inch barrel on the bottom

How long of a wait did you have after ordering your Model 1 upper to get it?
