I'm sure this has been asked somewhere, but I can't find it, I bought some 32 round mags from spikes, I have a RRA upper and lower with a Hahn mag block (top loaded removable kind).  The magazines keep falling out to the ground, no matter what I do.  Sometimes I can get them where they will stay in slightly but a little movement and they drop.  I emailed spikes already, but I was wondering if anyone here has some insight.

Have you checked to make sure your mag catch is in spec and is installed properly?

If you can throw a pic up of the inside of your lower/magwell area showing how much mag catch protrusion you have it could be helpful to diagnose?

Are the feed lips hitting the upper receiver? If you give them a smack will they stay in?

I'll get some pics tonight...I smacked them hard they won't stay, it's almost like the mag release isn't protruding enough to stop the magazine from falling out.  It's a RRA lower so I would imagine it is in spec.  And don't worry - no hack saw, this shit cost too much money!

There's a really good chance you are imagining wrong about the RRA lower.

Had this problem with promags, and someone told me to get a stag mag catch.  I just switched to metalform/colt/spikes mags, and no problem.  I'm running a hahn top loader myself, but w/ a pof lower.  I would assume the stag mag catch has a little more lip for the mag slot to grab.

I had this problem once, and it drove me crazy until I discovered a very small brass fragment from an OOB discharge hiding underneath the mag catch.

thanks for the tips, I have another lower I'll try, and a spare mag catch, I'll see if they solve the problem.

I tried the setup in a Bushmaster lower and it worked great.  Is there a way to "tweak" the mag catch or do I just have to replace it?

I seem to recall other threads in the past with similar complaints when using RRA mag catches.  If you can't find a Stag as someone suggested, you can always try a DPMS part.  That is all I have ever used (in an RRA lower with a Hahn std. top loader) and I have never experienced magfallout-itis.

I think I have seen some threads where guys have even dremeled on the mag catch where it hits the receiver, to allow it to extend a bit further into the magwell.  You could always try that as a temporary fix while you wait for a replacement part.

I just charged my cordless dremel actually, maybe I'll give it a shot.  If you hold both lowers side by side the difference in the mag well catch protrusion is quite noticeable, it's not something I thought of though as a possible problem.  Thank God for this forum!  I was really worried I might have gotten incompatible mags or something.

UPDATE:  I tried adjusting the mag catch to no avail, I had a spare DPMS lower parts kit laying around so I used that mag catch - perfect now, mags are nice and tight.  Thanks everyone!
