I saw a cz 22 upper today and thought about buying it, but don't know anything about them.  Are they reliable?  Do blackdog mags work with them?  I would appreciate any info you can provide.  He wanted around $500 for it, but didn't know much about it.

It got even better once it had a couple of thousand rounds through it. Started as HV only, but is now quite happy with quality subs. Do blackdog mags work with them?  Yes, though there is a specific V22 version I would appreciate any info you can provide.  He wanted around $500 for it, but didn't know much about it.

As stated:

Reliable
Accurate
BDM compatible
Fully AR compatible
Ergonomically superior to a standard AR
Great fun

Do a search, there's lots of more in depth info. on here and the rimfire Forum.

I believe they were originally sold for around $250.  For $500 or more I would look at Tacsol or Spike's.

The BDM mags (and .22LR AR15 mags in general) are type specific and NOT compatible across types.
1:Ciener, CMMG, Spike's, Model 1 Sales
2: M261, Olympic
3:CZ V-22

BDM makes a specific mag for this upper. They do not sell it though.

CZ should make an upper that uses the "standard" BDM mags and import them. They were $250. They would fly off the shelves at $400 in the market these days.

I have both a ciener and a cz v-22 they take different mags but both are made by black dog . the cz is by far the most accurate and very reliable . I paid 400 dolars for the upper.
in the photo the ciener kit is on top and the cz on the bottom.
