Okay, I know there is an alternative. I am building a .22 pistol with a Spikes upper and I want to know what to use for a plug on the lower receiver. No buffer needed and I would like to have it as flush as possible. Yes, I am considering the Spikes Pistol Plug. But what else is out there?

I don't think there is anything else

the only thing more low profile would be to cut off the nut on that plug and machine a allen key hole

Check with Ace and see what they have.

I know they make some folding stock adpaters but do not know if they have something for a plug.

Wow that is flat. If the threaded holes are a distraction use

some set screws to fill the holes like in the picture.

Those holes are the same threads as sling swivels.
