title says it all. looking at a 22lr kit (more than likely spikes) and was wondering if there is any ammo that is a no-no? don't care about subsonic, just want something that will work it well and have the least amount of issues possible.
or is it like everything else - get the kit and buy a bunch of small 50-100rnd packs and see what works the best? |

Yes, it's kind of a two stage process. First step is finding the brands that will feed reliably. Second step is finding the more accurate loads from those. You might end up with a cheap plinking load and then an expensive accurate load. Buying a small quantity of several brands is a good idea.
It seems that more people have trouble with the milder loads. FWIW, Federal Champion Bulk Pack (Load 745) and CCI Mini-Mags feed flawlessly in my rifle (a Model 1 dedicated upper). I just started tracking it, but I'm at 23 BDM mags without a single failure to feed with the cheap Federal load I mentioned above. The brands that didn't feed, didn't feed at all, so buying small boxes of several makes sense. |

I've not heard a lot of good about the Remington bulk pack. The loss-leader Remington .22 has been @#$% since back in the days when it was "Mohawk" brand and came in brown boxes. FWIW; AFAIK; IMHO; YMMV; yadda, yadda, yadda. Regards, Ed Mann [email protected] Bobby Bowden is doing a fine job - just leave him alone.

Spikes kit
remington golden bullets won't feed at all. remington yellow jacket $4+ a box locally feed but only go off about half the time. With a dpms fcg federal bulk pack is probably runing 99% now some rounds just seem to be duds won't go off at all and every now and then ones just to underpowered to reset the trigger. Haven't shot a lot of winchester power point but it seems to be 100% down side it cost almost $4. a box locally. |

I've got a 15 year + old Ceiner Kit. It always worked with Remington Golden Bullets. I recently broke a firing pin and replaced the firing pin and extractor. The newest batch of Golden Bullets goes pop, pop, bang, pop, JAM.. .I tried the Federal Wally World bulk ammo and it doesn't always eject reliably. They seem to get stuck in the ejection port around the bolt like a stovepipe in a .45auto.
Stingers work perfect but they are EXPENSIVE. CCi Mini Mags seem to work ok, but cost more. Any suggestions ?? |

Remington and Winchester are the worst (60% FTF, FTE). Federal has been great (0.25% FTF,FTE). CCI is Expensive but more consistant. Life is great, Been stocking up on Federal Bulk for Ever.
What's Wierd is that Remingtons work Great in 10/22's and Fereral's Suck? |

I use federal bulk 550 in all my .22 s and I haven't had a problem yet, I use them in my gsg5 my mod1 upper my ruger 10/22 , my ruger mkII and my p22 I love the shit and my guns love it also. I am retired so I stalk all 7 wally worlds in my area, and I am the reason that no one else can get 550 bulk pack in my area. Yes I am a ammo whore and no I don't want concelling, I have aquired over 50k of this ammo in just the last 6 wks and no it is not my total stash, and yet I need more. |

Same experience as most with my Ruger MKIII 22/45 with the ammo. CCI Mini-Mags work flawless, but also the most expensive, Federal Bulk works almost as well, no misfires, maybe 1 in a 100 or less, misfeeds or stove pipes, far cheaper. Rem Golden Bullet, 1 in 10 misfires or fail to feed, stove pipes, I don't even consider buying them.
It sounds more like the issue is just plain the quality of the ammo more than some combination of ammo and weapon. Yes, I know weapon/ammo combos do come in play, but I think its safe to say Rem Golden Bullets are a bad combo with any weapon. |
