Kuehl .vs Spikes
Who makes the best .22 upper? |
|
Quoted:
Who is Rick Kuehl? His involvement in the AR .22 background? Kuehl Precision Firearms He only has 5" and 7.5" barrels left, so unless you want to do pistol / SBR / perm. attached sleeve, then Spike's is the way to go. |

Rick quit doing complete uppers a few years ago. I have one of his 20" flat top service rifle types MKI-no captive bolt. Great stuff. Kuehl appears to be responsible for the standardization, such as it is, among some of the Ciener derived uppers. His MKII setup, with a reduced shank at the breech over which the "collar" or modified chamber adapter fits, is the same specification used by M1S and Spike's.
He may have gotten this idea from the DPMS dedicated .22s, although the dimensions of the shanks differ significantly. A friend just got a bare 7" barrel, and we shot it Saturday on an M16 lower with a big .223 can and lots of BDM mags. I'm still smiling. My 16" heavy contour CAR M1S ( with Ciener bolt) runs great; my pal's Spike's/Walther ARFCOM SEBR also runs great. |
