What do you all clean your 22 barrels with?
I've never really cleaned mine but my ST22 was pretty expensive so I was thinking of cleaning it. I would of never of done this till I was reading on 22 supressors and saw tha amount of crap that built up in the can. So maybe I will start to clean my 22 barrels.... Suggestions? |

The barrels don't get leaded up very much - if at all.
When we shot IPSC with comps on our .45s (I know - ages ago) we would get lead build up in the comps when shooting cast bullets. I would pick and scrape out small chunks of lead out of my comps every few months. The barrels leaded some but nothing like the comps. Maybe someone with more understanding of what happens when a lead bullet exits the muzzle can explain the build up in the comps and suppressors. |

The next round will rub clean the barrel. The suppressor/flash hidder/ comp has room for the lead and carbon particles to stack up over time. Just use Kano oil and a brass brush if you really want to.
It works well on my xd 45 with cast rounds. My 10/22 has seen barrel cleaning about every 5k-10K rounds and shows no affect other than reduce accuracy immediately after cleaning till it fouls back to its normal level. My specter .22 suppressor normaly can be soaked in Kano Oil overnight and wiped clean every 600 to 1000 rds. |
