What is currently the cheapest .22lr conversion kit for the AR?  I am assuming the Ciener kits are near impossible to find, what else is out there?  It doesn't necessailry have to be current production, i.e. if the air force kits are the cheapest and mags are still available that is acceptable.

Trying to help a friend out so she can shoot a little cheaper than actual .223!

They're all about $199 with a BDM mag.  Here is the ONLY place that has any in stock, the CMMG version of the Ceiner:

Ordered it last night, just got in the shipping system today.

I have been looking into the 22lr conversion kits as well.

I am waiting for Spike's Tactical to start shipping. With the nickel plating, sold me right there. You can run it bone dry unlike Ciener's or CMMG which requires some much lube to run properly.

Spike's website states they are shipping in November, so it could be any day.

I have two Cieners, and both work 100% with little lube and Federal bulk pack. I even ran one of them 2000 rounds with out cleaning and not one hiccup. The Spike's unit is pretty though.

I have a couple Milsurp M-261 RFA's and an new Oly M-261 RFA other than the Oly unit haveing a nicer finish than the Milsurps I can't tell them apart. Parts interchange 100% They all run well lightly lubed after a brief break in. Used Milsurp 261's $100-$175, 10 rnd magazine inserts $15-$25ea. Oly 261 $129 new w/BDM mag. Not plugging for Oly here, I just calls em likes I sees em.
The pics of the spikes version of the Atchison designed unit do look sweet.

If you're looking for a cheap one maybe try taking a peek at the USGI models that are out there.

I picked one up with three magazines for $250, which is a little more than normal but the magazine inserts pop right into any STANAG magazines which you can pick up for about 10% of the cost of the newer magazines.

Plus this conversion kit along with using your standard equipment doesn't change the appearance of your rifle at all.
