Anybody have any experience w/ the 10 1/4" or 11 1/2" dedicated .22lr upper from Model "1" Sales? I have a registered SBR Lower and I was looking to put a .22lr upper on it w/ my supressor for plinking purposed. Price looks good I was just wondering about functionality and quality.

I'm sure everyone else is tired of my pics but I just love sharing.  I believe I ordered near the end of Jan. and received the end Feb./beginning of March.  I've had issues with Eley Sport (not sure of exact name but maroon box) and Remington Subsonics.  Had 50 of each and the Eley failed to reset the hammer approximately 7 times or so but was accurate as all get out and the Rem Subsonics didn't do anything right.

I believe I'm in the 1,500 rounds fired range  or so having burned up a 500 round brick of Wildcats that worked very well and the remainder being Fed Value Pack from Wal-Mart.  With these two loads I've maybe had a total of 10 failures that would be called failures to eject but in actuality the empty casing has spun around while being ejected and the bolt has then pinched it in the action.  I'm using BDM mags and they really are wondrous.

So, here are the pics.  The first ones are immediately after taking it out of the box and the last one is of its current state except I've added a Mag-Pul trigger guard.

And because I like looking at it, this is the lower in its expensive loud form:

I'm glad I got one even though it, due to very regular posting and accountability here, an apparently outstanding product, and what appears to be extraordinary customer service, Spike's has a larger following here.

ETA: Upon receipt I CLP'ed the rails and ran it.  I think I cleaned for the first time around the 1,000 round mark although it was functioning normally.  It also wasn't really that dirty or at least not as dirty as I expected running .22s.  FWIW.

Good luck, they are a good time,
Scott

Thanks Scotter260. Anybody have any experience w/ the above SBR Upper by Model "1" Sales while running it w/ a suppressor? Are there any other issues w' it? I wonder if the supressor would help generate enough back pressure to properly cycle the action w/ subsonic ammo?

My semiauto 16" M1S runs fine with various loads. There's a load of tweaks for the Ciener platform on this and other forums. Some tuning of mags and springs is often necessary, according to those with FA lowers.
Practically all .22 ammo is subsonic out of a 10" barrel. Barrel length has nearly nothing to do with the functioning of the straight blow back operation of .22 autos, so I wouldn't expect the can to have much effect. Might be wrong, no experience. Yet.

So, w/ that said, if all ammo is practically subsonic out of a 10"bbl then I should be able to run standard velocity bulk .22 ammo w/ my suppressor and it would function fine and it would sound like subsonic????

I was always under the impression that you needed to be around 5.5" or less tpo keep Bulk Pak .22 High Velociity ammo Subsonic?

My 5.5" doesn't keep it sub sonic.

What do you have a Spike's Tactical Upper? What type of can are you running on it and what type of subsonic ammo are you feeding it to make it cycle properly and have you done any other mods to it to make it reliable. Thanks.

Model 1 Sales .22lr upper page.

$475 plus $10 to upgrade to a BDM 27-rounder otherwise you get a skinny Ciener mag or a 10-rounder with the remainder being shipping via UPS.  Total came to $503.00 delivered.

The 16" lightweight CAR is the same price and the 16" M4 is $525 plus shipping.  They don't include the carry-handle, the one pictured is one of Numrich's delivered for $53 blemished Stag Arms carry-handles that they no longer carry.

If you get a short-barrel that's intended for an SBR they require a fax of your Form 1 or 4.  Otherwise they're sold as pistol uppers although I'm not sure how they'd verify whether it's going on a pistol or not.

Just remember, my fee for posting this is pics upon receipt of yours

lol, i have an m261 .22 kit right now, but once my lower is registered and my upper is cut to 10.5, im conisdering getting a dedicated .22 upper, so i dont have to switch the bolt over and over lol. This seems like a good idea. Thanks for the info. by the way, your mk18 mod is awesome. I love it.
