I already have the following: Anvil Arms upper Anvil Arms lower with kit Ceiner Kit Looking to build a decent 22lr shooter with the expectation that I can match the groups (+/- 2-3" @ 100 yards with federal bulk) that I have enjoyed with my 20 yr old marlin 60 (that is totally shot out). Please help me maximize what I have and compromise cost. What parts should I pick up? Or sell the Ceiner and buy a Spikes? TIA |

You could try Kurts Kustom Firearms ( http://www.kurtskustomfirearms.citymax.com/catalog/item/29585/1131.htm ). He makes a dedicated .22LR upper that uses an unmodified Ciener Kit. If you want to build it yourself you can just buy the barrel and assemble your own upper. I have two KKF dedicated .22's, two of my friends each have one, and my brother in law just ordered one of his barrels for his own dedicated .22 upper. I would recomend him. Hope this helps. Brad |
That would only be true if the dedicated barrel has a proper .22LR chamber. Since the KKF barrels mentioned above, utilize a 5.56 chamber and unmodified Ciener chamber adaptor, its not going to shoot anywhere close to MOA due to the unrifled portion of the barrel. As far as I can see, the KKF only offers an improved twist rate, and little other "dedicated" benefit. |
At 40 yards with both of my KKF barrels I can hit empty .308 brass cases consistently. I find my KKF's to be as accurate as my DPMS dedicated .22 upper which does not use a chamber adaptor. As for shooting at MOA: I don't know. I only shoot at paper to sight in. I do know that my KKF's, as well as my friends KKF's will outshoot any .223 AR with a Ciener Kit. I can also say that they shoot as well as Ruger 10/22's, Marlin's, Remingtons, etc. Hope this helps. Brad |
