Did some calling around a few days ago to Model 1 Sales, Spike's Tactical, and a few other places that are developing new BCG drop ins.  One of these companies claimed that at 25 yards that groups were falling in a 6" radius (12" diameter).  Really poor grouping.

I kind of find this kind of hard to believe so I wanted some input from the community.  I have read many observations from others that don't give this kind of inaccuracy.  Unless I have been reading about uppers instead of drop in ciener (just my luck).

Whats the take?

Just wait for Spikes new .22 conversion, that is if he doesn’t already have them available.
He has reportedly designed one of his own that doesn’t have all of the feeding, timing and reliability problems associated with the ciener kit.
Everything else that he has designed and produced independently has been top notch, so I would imagine that his .22 bolt will be too.
I was going to go with the ciener kit, but when he told me that his would be available very soon I decided to wait.

I've been waiting for a long time (2 months).  I know I have to duck when I say that when everyone else has waited far longerhen
Just wondering about overall accuracy.  I do know that twist and such affects performance, but I am only looking at 50-75 yards max where I normally shoot.

I believe Model 1 is working with with BDM mags.

I have a Colt BCG conversion I used to check the difference between my dedicated uppers and my 1 in 9 twist barrels.  I used a Marlin 22 lr bolt gun of my sons just for a comparison.  The marlin had a 3 X 9 Tasco scope and on the AR uppers I used the same 2.5 X 10 Tasco scope set on 8 power.  All groups were shot at 50 yards prone off Harris bipod.  Groups measured Center to Center with calipers from most distant two shots in 5 shot group.

Marlin  Aguila 40 grain SE .650
         Fed 36 grain HP bulk  1.050, 1.350

Colt AR CL 20" 1 in 9 twist.

Aguila SE 40 grn RN  .550, .845, 1.192, .732

Fed 36 HP 550 Bulk   .550, 2.152

RRA 16" Chrome Moly Midlength 1 in 9 " twist

Aguila SE 40 Grn RN 1.520, .647, .892

Fed 36 Grn HP   1.419, 1.267

I've been satisfied with the Accuracy of my 22 lr BCG conversions.  My rifles will easily hit 8" X 12" metal targets at 25 and 50 Yards.  I have a round metal target about 36 inches in diameter at 100 yards.  Its not difficult to hit these targets in rapid succession off hand  with a 1 in 9 twist and BCG conversion (Colt or Ciener).  I've observed no key holes from unstable 22 lr ammo up to 100 yards. I can get 2 to 3 inch groups  at 100 yards off the bench (depending on ammo but not every group because of fliers).  I noticed you have a lot more fliers with a 1 in 9 inch twist compared to 1 in 16 inch dedicated uppers.  In my opinion accuracy suffers a lot from the ammo.  Most 22 lr  ammo just is not that consistent group to group.  For practice and plinking the BCG conversions are fine IMO.  If you want better accuracy then a 1 in 12 or 1 in 16 inch twist barrel is going to be needed.  My dedicated 22 lr uppers will shoot comparable groups as the Marlin bolt gun.  I can consistently get 1/2" to 3/4" groups at 50 yards with Aguila SE 40 grain ammo.     For the cost of the dedicated upper compared to BCG conversion you decide how much accuracy you want and spend your money.  Like most here on AR 15.com I have several of each.......................this stuff is very addictive!!
