Hmmm.  Does the Colt have the oddball sized trigger/hammer pin holes?  That's a turn-off for me.

OTOH, I think CMMG only offers a 14.5" barrel with a permanent FH.  I like to be able to change out the FH for something quieter from time to time.

Get a CMMG lower and a Colt upper and you're good to go.

Depends on what you want to do with it. I like the Colt 6450 because it is insanely light (5.8lbs). It is mainly a range toy for me and since 5.56 ammo is so expensive right now, the 9mm makes shooting more economical. I like the quality and the flat top options with the Rock River and the CMMG, but I liked the reliability of the pinned in mag block  of the Colt. Mine ran perfect right out of the box with every brand/type or ammo I could feed it. Colt will also have a higher resale value if you ever need to unload it.

You can find Colt mag blocks for sale seperately. I did and that's what I built my 9mm AR off of.

Matt:  Can you advise where you found your Colt magazine block at and how much it cost?  Thanks, Rick

I bought it from J & T Distributing and it was the same price it is now, $150. I had it semi-permanently installed with a hex screw through the front of the mag well.

Get the Oly 9mm, it's probably a more simple solution and should be less costly to buy. The S/S barrel also holds up very well.

I'm not so sure an 'oversized' hammer pin on a 9mmAR is a negative. My 6450 runs with zero issues. Guaranteed by Colt and I am just fine with the Colt LPG., Chrome bore / chamber,  and the pinned mag block.
1300.00 for genuine, quality is not a bad deal. 1250.00 seems quoted often.

I got the CMMG 9mm over the Colt, has all the same features as Colt such as MP tested barrel, chrome bore and chamber, mil-spec stock, plus a bunch of others that the Colt does'nt have, A3 with carry handle, mil-spec fire control group, 14.5 M4 profile barrel. It comes with a lifetime warranty also, and CMMG is very freindly to the civilian market unlike Colt. It should be here within a week and will post up picks when I get it.

 "plus a bunch of others?"

When you get yours in about a week that is.

Also they use the Hahn 9mm dedicated mag block, M4 handguard caps, oversized M4 handguards and mil spec 5-position ribbed reinforced stock. just to add a few more, which is enough for me. Like I said CMMG is very freindly to us civilians where as Colt does'nt like their AR products in our hands. There are just to many other options out there anymore, no need to even think about paying a premium price for a Colt.

Wow. You make a good case for the CMMG product. Good luck with it and please report your findings.

I just bought a new 6450 at a gunshow in Houston for $1095 ($1185 OTD).  I could not be happier.  The sights were right on out of the box.  It has ate over 200 rnds of WWB plus some other assorted 9mm I had lying around.  Colt has been building 9mm ARs longer than anyone, that is why I went with a Colt.  CMMG was tempting, but it would have cost me more than a Colt.  That is a no brainer.  My Colt came with 2, 32 rnd mags and I have 2 CProduct mags on the way.  If they work well, then I will buy more.  The rifle did not like CCI Blazer (aluminum) ammo, but that is okay.  I shoot what I have left in my Beretta 92FS.  Anyway, I love my Colt.  If you buy a Colt then you will probably not be disappointed.

After further consideration,I think I'm gonna order the CMMG.
I wonder how long it will take to get the carbine in my dealers hands once I place the order.

Call them to check availability, now get yourself some of those Cproduct mags as they are on sale til the end of the year.
