| This most likely has been done to death, but I am unablr to locate information on a search of the site. I'm having difficulties with my Ciener kit functioning correctly in several guns. The kit works really well in an SP1, but fails to feed in a DPMS CAR, a Colt Sporter II and a Bushmaster A2. It has worked well in about 6 other Colt A1s and A2s. The problem is always failure to fully feed the rd into the chamber. I have polished the feed ramp and have cleaned the crap out of it. Any ideas will be welcomed. |

Polishing is always a good first step. I run Lakeside recoil springs in my Cieners - feeding is now 100%. Could not believe the difference. Can't guarantee the Lakeside spring will solve your problems but it's a good place to start. YMMV Check here re: Lakeside recoil springs Quoted: www.lakesideguns.com/distrib/jbarms.html www.jbarms.citymax.com/catalog/item/3766994/3541941.htm http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=15&t=346880 Will post more old posts more if I can find them. | Yhea, Check your ammo. Mine will not function at all with Remington. I needed to use mini mags to break mine in. If your kit works in one reciever and not another look at how the hammer contacts the slide and the strength of the hammer spring. Mine has definite wearin marks there. I would suggest put some lithium greas on the surface where the slide contacts the hammer and use mini mags to break in a combination. Mine now runs great on the wally world federal bulk pack. One other thing put the magazines in the one that works and then compare how far they seat in with the ones that are giving you problems. May be a slight difference in the height of the mag in the well between different recievers. For mine to feed properly with the Black Dog Mags there has to be a slight gap between the mag lips and the slide rail. You can see it with a mag in the well and the slide pulled back. I have had to dress up the tops of some of my mags to get the mags to function properly. The new full bodied black dog mags have all functioned perfectly out of the box for me. |
I didn't have to cut my Lakeside recoil spring. I use the bulk Federal ammo (550rds for $12). I've found the Remington to be the worst ammo for my Ciener Kit. I've found the CCI Minimags to be the best for function and most expensive. I've found the Federal Bulk to be a close sencond to CCI in reliability and cleaniness, just weaker on recoil. The Winchester is initially reliable but it is dirty. So, my reliablity diminishes after x amount of rounds. The Remington causes feed problems in my Ciener kit and it is dirty. A bad combination for me. I avoid Remington 22lr like a plague. For Full Auto you may also want to polish the hammer tip and the sear trip edge that engages the hammer tip. The sear trip should disengage smoothly without massive force. I also use the lighter hammer spring supplied with the Lakeside springs. |

Wow, I can't believe all the talk of ammo sensitivity with the Ciener Kit. I have not found a single brand/type that my kit will not eat. The worst .22lr ammo I have ever bought was PMC Sidewinder, total crap. Will not work in any other .22 I have, it runs like a top in my kit, even though it make Wolf smell like Chanel No. 5. I would tend to think that it could either be a recoil spring or binding in the upper receiver. |

My Kuehl and standard Ciener units also run everything I've tried so far. HV, SV, target. I'm now in the process of trying to find ammo that will not run in my Cieners. ETA: Winchester bulk pack "X-Pert" lead HP - failures to eject, failures to fire (in a bolt gun too) and a in-battery (breech closed) case failure. ![]() |
CCI minimags work 100% in mine. Most other "high velocity" 22lr will also work but for me, the MM is the best. I had to try 6 or 7 different types of ammo in mine before I found a good one. I also lightly buffed the rails and underside of the bolt too. good luck |
