I am debating if I want to buy a RRA .40 S&W when they come out.  I am wondering about the ballistics of the 180 gr hp out of a 16 inch barrel.  I have played with a ballistic program and came up with the following:

25yds: +.5
50yds:  zero
75yds: -2.8
100yds: -8.0

does this sound correct?  If not, can someone point me in the right direction?

Well from a pistol with a 25 yard zero you should only have about 6 inches of drop I believe.

Ditto

The 50yrd IBZ is for 5.56 only.  Even LTC Chuck Santose himself suggests a 25yd zero for the 9mm AR, so I'm sure the .40 would be similar.

the 25 yds would look something like this:

25: Zero
50: -.8
75: -3.8
100: -9.4

Let's figure that with 12" more barrel than a 4.5" 40SW pistol, you'll get about 12 * 25fps = 300fps gain in rifle vs pistol.

Some figures using hot, lighter, flatter shooting Corbon Loads:

165gr at ~ 1,450fps with 50yd zero:
Range (yards) _________Muzzle 25 50 75 100 150 200
Velocity (fps) __________1450 1380 1315 1255 1200 1110 1041
Energy (ft.-lb.)_________ 770 698 633 577 528 452 397
Trajectory (50 yd. zero) -0.5 0.3 0.0 -1.6 -4.5 -15.1 -32.7

135gr at ~ 1,625fps with 50yd zero:
Range (yards) _________Muzzle 25 50 75 100 150 200
Velocity (fps) __________1625 1545 1470 1399 1332 1214 1121
Energy (ft.-lb.)_________ 792 716 648 586 532 442 377
Trajectory (50 yd. zero) -0.5 0.2 0.0 -1.2 -3.5 -12.0 -26.3
