just fired my new olyarms 22partner kit.
lots of failures to feed.
the new round would not jump up into the barrel.
it just got stuck and smashed the nose of the bullet just below the chamber.
the mag insert is very loose in the ar mag.
how is it supposed to fit - tight or loose?
do these kits work with colt or ciener mags?
suggestions?

The host magazine is critical in the M261 setup.  You need to make sure it's a good magazine (spring ok, feedlips ok, etc.) because the host positions the 261's magazine correctly.  Have you tried this with other host magazines?

Insert shouldn't be loose in the mag. Did you remove the follower from the 5.56 mag?

i only tried one mag and no i didn't remove the follower.
the host mag that it came in still had the follower so i figured its supposed to be there.
the host mag i used was a brand new 20 rounder.

The follower is supposed to stay in place.  I have never tried using an M261 magazine in a 20 rounder, but I've had plenty of success with 30s.

Try a different host mag.  I have had feeding problems with some 20's, feeds great with USGI 30's.

Joe, is this with 10 rounds loaded? Load one round and check out the angle of the round. It is about 30-35 degrees. As you load the mag this angle is reduced. By the time the 10th round is loaded it is probably about 20 degrees. There is some play in the last round. I usually tip it up a little before I insert the magazine. Seems to work most of the time. I am also playing with different types of recoil springs. I think it needs a little more tension.
