I brought this up in another forum, thought this might be a better place. Does anyone know if there is a difference between the Colt 9mm Magcatch and a standard magcatch. Do they extend deeper into the magwell? Just looking for an alternative to the bending(whackjob) techniqe. Thanks Guys...............

It's been a while since I attended Colt's armorer's school, but as far as I know there is only one mag catch.

Bending the mag catch?  I've never heard of having to do that.   The standard mag catch extends aprox. 1/16" into the 9mm mag well of my Hahn block.  Is something blocking travel of your std. mag catch?  Is your block sitting too high?

I have a colt style bottom loader from Mod1 sales. Some with RRA 9mm's are having a common problem to mine, in that the mags either don't lock, or can be twisted out after locking. RRA has supposedly(not confirmed) been telling people to give a slight bend to the catch, which in most cases helps(not in mine). Plus in my opinion it weakens the mag catch. After some messing around I came to  The conclusion it isn't extending far enough into the mag block. .223 mags lock just fine. I have since came up with my own solution that was easy and works. I guess the only way is to find a Colt 9mm catch and see if it works without modification. Thanks guys...
