I have a custom 22 upper and wanted to know if I can put that on any lower? Is a standard .223 buffer and spring going to work with this gun? (a standard .223 RRA lower for example) If not, what do I need?  Thanks in advance for any suggestions/help.

Dedicated 22 (rimfire) uppers that use any of the standard 22lr conversion designs don't actually use the AR's buffer and spring and it should be able to go on any AR lower. Some people have had problems with light hammer strikes when using a lower with a match type trigger/hammer group. If this is a really different type of custom 22 upper please post some pics so we can see what you have.

Sorry no pics right now. I do not own a digital camera. The gun is a dedicated .22 upper made by Rick Kuehl of "KUEHL PRECISION FIREARMS" It has a stainless custom machined 16" bull barrel and a Armalite mid-length national match handguard.  I have it on a RRA lower with a collapsable stock. It is a flat top with no mount yet, but I have been very happy with my LaRue mounts on my LR-308 AP4

Rick sets the barrel back a couple inches into the receiver so it makes for a very compact package.  Once I get it up and running, it's the squirrel gun and a good starter "black gun" for the boy when he is old enough many years from now (he's 2).

thank you very much for the response.
