I've heard that you can use a lower with a DPMS hammer with both a Colt system 9mm upper and a 5.56 upper.  Is this correct? If you say it is, is this based on something you've actually seen?  Are they 100% reliable in a 9mm?

I just got a RRA 9mm.  What do you think about replacing the hammer in this rifle plus my other two with DPMS hammers.

Uh, yes.... it is basically a M16 hammer without the lug for the auto-sear, and missing the notch that we all know as being a SP-1 hammer.  Thats all COLT did for the 9mm submachine gun, they dropped a 9mm upper on a M16 lower.

Been my method of operation for 3+ yr now with 9mm, I swap tops all the time, remember, Colt just plopped a 9mm on the M16 lower, and we know the only difference in the trigger group between the AR-15 and M16 is the ability to make the action cyclic.

Yes

Thats' up to you... if you is going to use 223/556 withthe RRA, then yes, and have the 9mm bolt ramped to smooth out the action.
