OK, I've decided that I want a 9mm upper for my RRA Entry Tac. I read the FAQ thread but I guess I was too damn dumb to find what I was looking for. I want to use the easiest, simplest way of getting into the 9mm AR game. Can I just buy a RRA 9mm upper and feed with the "Colt-style" mags or do I need to use some type of block for the magwell? Will the factory hammer on my RRA lower work w/ the RRA 9mm upper? I'm not really worried about stockpiling mags so, only want two or three, so that's no big concern. Will the gun be reliable? Accurate at 50yds? Any help would be appreciated. |
| if you get the rra upper you will need the rra magwell conversion block. and you need to swap out your hammer to a 9mm hammer. you also need a 9mm buffer then you can rock and roll. and yes it is pretty accurate. alot more accurate than you would expect from a 9mm. i have put about a thousand rounds through mine in the last month or two with no malfunctions at all. I shoot wmwwb and use rra uzi mags also promags work very well. very fun gun to shoot. |

You'll need a magblock for whatever type of magazines you're going to use. Colt/Uzi for the RRA uppers & sten for the oly uppers. If you don't have a machine shop ramp the bolt you'll need either RRA's 9mm hammer or a hammer without a notch on the top front corner, like an M16 hammer. If you're going to use a collapsible stock you'll also need a heavier buffer. Your best bet for a simple buy in is to just get all your stuff from RRA. The upper assembly, magwell adaptor, hammer & buffer. NOTE: On the RRA magwell adaptors, it seems like most people get the best results by pushing it in all the way until it's touching the bottom of the bolt & then tightening the set screw. That's how I do mine & it runs great, no feeding problems at all. Also, If you get the RRA upper go to an auto parts store & buy a 1/8" roll pin. 1/2" or 3/4" will work. Replace the factory extractor roll pin with this one. |
