I'm planning to build an AR in .22LR. This will be my first AR build. I'm really more of a M1A kind of guy. I have a Noveske or a RRA stripped lower to start from. I figure I'll buy the assembled upper. I can assemble the lower using the instructions here. Cost isn't too much of an issue. I want a real good quality plinker. I'm still reading through a lot of stuff here for info. I'm not sure what to buy or where yet.

I'm in Kalifornia so I'll be going pistol grip-less. I've got some nice non-pistol grips from MonsterMan over on another forum. They are designed for use with an A2 stock.

What I think I want so far:
A2 stock (black)
Good quality lower parts kit
Match grade trigger
Flat top picatinny rail upper dedicated to .22LR (Fulton Armory?, Compass Lake?, Kurts Kustom Firearms?)
No bull barrel (a lighter barrel is great, but want good multiple shot accuracy.)
Optics are TBD

If you had this to do and had a some cash burning a hole in your pocket where would you start? =vonsmith=

Well, I have a KKF Upper.  I got it September of 2001.  I have over 18,000 rounds through mine.  I have a 16" A2 upper.   I use a Ciener Conversion kit with mine.  I have had no problems with it and really like it.

I found Kurt to be a very nice guy to deal with, and would highly recomend him.

Thanks,

Brad

Pay careful attention to the twist rate of the barrel you use.  .22 likes 1:16 which is way slower than any 5.56 barrel.

I have a DPMS which so far runs perfectly on supersonic ammo.  It has a small issue with subsonic that I hope to correct with a lightened hammer.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've been looking at Kurt's web site for a while now. I'll contact him soon to get his take on this project.
