I have a M261 conversion that is a lot of fun and cheap. I am using it in a CMMG M4 style upper and it is working well with only one problem. The gun will group almost every shot into one hole at 25yds,except for one or two fliers that will open the group up to 2.5"-3.5". It is not consistantly the first or second shot and ammunition changes will not get rid of the fliers. It will change group size but the fliers are still there. Also this is shooting a 10 shot string. Best ammo tested so far is the Federal bulk plated HP and CCI minimags. Anybody else had this problem and found a solution? Thanks

Check fired rounds for ignition.  Nice dent in the rim of the fired case?  Occasional misfires would be an indicater of week ignition.

Many possible reasons for fliers, most common are a wind changes and shooter error.  Remember, even a 5 mph puff will move a 22LR 1/2" at 50 yds.

For my gun, an unexplained flier is the first indication I need to clean the barrel...  Usually good for 50 - 100 rounds before this happens.
