to build an upper sans the gas tube for dedicated .22 use. I know that using the ciener kit .22 fouls the gas tube and could possible clog it to the point that disassembly is required. Thanks

if you get a true 22 cal AR barrel, there will be no gas port...hense no need for a gas block/tube.
