Here's a question.

It was my understanding that the DPMS .22 uppers are based on the M261 rather than Ciener.  How close is this stand alone (bolt replacement) kit they now have to a real (and rare) M261?

Its closer to the Colt commercial kit .

M261 and DPMS have nothing in common and can't even use the same magazines.

I currently own a DPMS upper, and owned an original Colt .22 converter at one time, and the magazines look the same, though I have heard mixed reports of interchangeability.

I believe those two mags are the same. If the old Colt mag has a little ejector thingie sticking up off the left lip, it should work in DPMS. If it doesn't, it won't.

After my searching, that is why I was confused about what is actually correct.

So:
Kheul uses modified Ciener
DPMS uses a Colt-based system
M261 - have to find a real one
Bushmaster uses - ?
CZ - proprietary

Be nice to have a FAQ tacked on everyone's combined (and validated) knowledge!

DPMS uses an original COlt mag with the "thingie" sawed off.

(I didn't like even typing that.....)

Looking at my DPMS mag, it looks like the ejector "thingie" is there.  So you don't have to worry about your mags being neutered (other than only being 10 rnd mags)
