Has anyone attempted to notch out the back to accept a 9mm bolt catch?  If so what has been your experiance with it.  I am looking at doing this myself or going with a Garrison notched version.  I am waiting to hear back from Garrasion as to whether or not they are still available.  Anyone have any opinions on the garrason model?

I have a Garrison model that takes the COlt type mag, no bolt hold open. It works great. I've heard and I'm not sure that the Garrison block is an ASA?

I have not done it personally but a local shooter has it with an ASA mag block. It's not very difficult and works fine. He had a gunsmith mill it.

I have an ASA with a notch in the back for a 9mm bolt catch.  I have not had any problems with it.  I use Colt mags both steel/plastic followers and ProMags.

Here are some pics:

Thanks for the replies.  I am trying to get a hold of Garrison to place an order for their block and bolt catch.

The Hahn Top Loading Block can be used with the 9mm bolt catch with no modifications and locks into the receiver solid and cannot fall out.

Colt......and modified Uzi mags, Uzi type mags can vary in quality so use the best you can get (for any mag block)

Well, I went with the notched toploading Garrison block and bolt catch combo, cost was $135 for the block $15 for the catch and $5 shipping.  $155.00 compared to $112 for ASA block, $18 for catch and $? for shipping from brownells, plus paying someone to notch it.  So for $20.00 I dont have to find anyone to notch the ASA, I think that is a fair deal.  The hahn system with a bolt catch was $8 more than I paid for the Garrison set up.  Hope this helps anyone else in their search.h.gif

By the way I ordered 6 promag colt 32rnd mags from Natchez for $14.40 each, and they will be here tomorrow!

Brownell's has Hahn blocks.  Of my three block types, it may be my favorite.
