I just received my DPMS upper with the bull barrel & free-float tube. I took it to my range and shot Dynapoints, SK Standard, and Wolf MT. It functioned well with Dynapoints, and had a few failure to fires with the SK. Overall, the Wolf produced the best groups at 50 yards using an 18x scope. Here's a picture: http://www.hunt101.com/img/236392.JPG That group was only a little larger than the groups I shot a few days prior using Wolf and an Anschutz 1451. It also shot very well using a 6 moa dot, totally blowing the center out of standard rimfire targets at 25 yards. Here's the setup: http://www.hunt101.com/img/236290.JPG Now I've got to resist the temptation to buy a dedicated lower for this thing. |
I love the stock. I started with the regular length ARFX, and changed over to the shorty. It's very solid. If I ever change stocks, it will be one of the ACE Socom's, but I really think I'll leave it as-is. I also like the new Magpul grip. I like the modular idea, and I've got it set up with the thickest backstrap. It fit my hand better than the Samco G27 that it replaced. I'm really tempted to get some Eley Tenex of Lapua Midas L and see exactly how well this thing will shoot. Frankly, it is very close to a 10/22 I dumped over $700 into, and is a hell of alot more fun to shoot. Plus I didn't have to glass-bed it, adjust it, or tinker with it to get it to shoot. And, I can train with the exact same lower for a whole lot less. I heard about some store selling old generation holosights for well under $100. If I could find that deal, my setup would be perfect. |

You know its funny how .22 are. You said yours works fine with Dynapoints, My flatop like yours hates them. I run wolf ,blazers, and mini mags just fine. I picked up my M4 DPMS last week and it wouldn't run wolf to save its life. I have a box of Dyna points I think I'm going to take to the range tommorow and see if it will work in my M4...... Man I need to update my DPMS pics. BTW if you need help with anything related to your .22 let me know. Been there done that etc BTW you forgot to add your magpul trigger gaurd.... Wolf |
| Back when I spent more time on Rimfire Central, everyone loved Dynapoints. I found an elusive box out of town before I could get them here, and they didn't "group", they patterned. They still aren't super accurate out of this, but they function reliably, and work flawlessly in my Advantage Arms Glock conversion. I've got a RRA 2-stage trigger in the lower, and I wonder if that has an effect on the standard velocity ammo functioning well? The only .22 ammo that I've found that is consistently accurate in every rimfire I've had is Midas L, but at $12/$13 a box I just buy it every once in awhile to see exactly what type of accuracy I can get out of a particular rifle. Here's what it would do out of my old 10/22 FrankenRuger with a 6 oz. KID trigger and a 36x scope: Midas L @ 50 yds |

interesting,, thats what I got ou of wolf at 100 yards. Each rimfire is differnt as they say. I laugh my ass off all the time when people start complaining about don't work right "insert company" and their .22'sbetter than another etc I think their SO use to center fire that they haven't experecinced rimfires all that much. When I go to the range I usually put out 1000 rounds plus. You just have to find the ammo that works best for that barrel and setup as you know.... Really? A two stage in yours... I have the JP in one of mine on the trigger and really like it. Which one did you say you have? Wolf |
