I like the case, can't read the brand.  What model is it?

edit:

Never mind, I found it... Larue Covert MKII.  Very nice.

I want to eventually do a 9mm conversion kit on mine...but damn I just hate those stick mags.  It's like throwing a hotdog down a hall way.  Someone should make full size AR mag that feeds 9mm like on the .22 kits.

Oh Samson 9mm magazine clamp...how rarely you're available.  Optic Planet needs to order more of these.  I hope they don't loosen up as time goes, that would be so dissappointing.  But you really can't beat it for 20ish bucks.  Nice rig bro.

Long-time lurker, first-time poster!

Here's my 9mm carbine, an example of what we can play with in the UK...

It's a Southern Gun Company (Cornwall, UK) custom built 9mm AR using standard Glock 17 mags.  As we cannot have semi-auto centre-fire in the UK, the operating method is effectively an 'interrupted blow-back'.  After each round fired, the bolt cycles, ejecting the spent case, but then locks to the rear - to be released by the large thumb lever, where the safety selector would normally be situated.

Neat set up.  I like to see how the AR is interpreted outside the USA.
On a side note, what a joke.  Cannot believe you have to put up with political ignorance on that level.  Its like listening to BHussienOBama comment on firearms........he is the least qualified person in the US govt to comment on anything firearms related.  My 4 yr old daughter has more trigger time than him.

Thanks for the kind words guys!

@sanman28: yeah, I hear ya; as legitimate and law-abiding UK firearms holders, we're pretty much always the scapegoats for the actions of those who run amok with illegal guns, and for the failures of the legislative/police system which (if used correctly) would generally have prevented such events from happening.  Many moons ago I was a happy pistol shooter, but with regressive bans on our sport we ended up with Winchester/Marlin/Henry lever actions to carry on with our gallery competitions.  This 9mm lever release is getting a bit of that old feeling back in practical comps; this and my S&W 15-22 for some running & gunning (and with UK ammo prices being as they are, probably best that I'm only doing that with .22LR :)

When I first saw where the lower was made I was confused cause I know how restrictive it is over there. Now seeing the explanation of it's operation, that's freaking sweet.

"Fine, you won't let us have cool semi-auto toys? We'll have cool almost semi-auto toys".

I was thinking EXACTLY the same thing. It would be hard to live with such restrictions, but I applaud the effort to make them liveable. Cool stuff.

I have the same suppressor from Doug.  You will love.  Its SUPER quiet.  I have the 16" version too and the 13" is no louder to my ears.  The loudest part of the set up is your bolt slamming around.

7.5" SBR 9mm AR-15 Update

Original Post 08/28/2010 pg 47:

It's been awhile since my last post and I thought you all deserve an update. My 7.5" SBR 9mm AR has been running like a champ. A couple of “trial and error” hick-ups here and there but they were resolved. Also there have been a couple of changes since my original post back in 2010. Here's a crappy but recent photo, (I promise to post some glamor shots ASAP).

The biggest change is definitely the Slidefire stock. Best $300 impulse buy I've ever made. If this thing was fun as a semi, only those of you with a slidefire stock (or full auto) can understand how awesome it is now. Check out my YouTube video and enjoy! I couldn't stop from smiling long enough to do an actual video update because of how much fun this gun is, until now. I was second guessing getting a 100rd Beta-C mag as I didn't see the point on a semi. But now, I am most definitely in the market.

As far as other upgrades, I threw on some Magpul MBUS's and a CAA Light and Laser combo. I also brought my C-product mag count up to 8 for a total of 256rds.

The final pieces to this puzzle would be an optic and a suppressor. Jury's still out on the optic, but I think I narrowed the suppressor down to Gem-Tech's Multi-Mount. This way I can use it on my Beretta 92FS as well.

Now for the hick-ups:

1. My hammer pins have broken twice on me. Probably due to the heavy recoil and high rate of fire. After the video was shot, I replaced the standard pins with KNS pins. We'll see how these hold up in the long run.

2. Every once and awhile I would have a FTF/FTE. After firing a round, the bolt would begin the cycling process. While loading a fresh round, the bolt would catch the spent casing on its way out and lock the whole thing up. I assumed it was too much spring pressure on the bolt. So I removed Spike's spacer and so far I've shot several mags and haven't had an issue.

3. This last one was more of a compatibility issue than anything else. The Spikes Tactical billet upper receiver is designed in a way that I was not able to use Magpul's B.A.D. Lever. No big deal I know, but I've become accustomed to having one on all my AR's. A company by the name of Phase 5 Tactical welds a lever directly to a standard bolt catch, keeping a very small profile. I found one at a recent gun show and it works perfectly!

Surprisingly enough, this thing just LOVES cheap ammo. I keep feeding it Wolf, Brown Bear, Tul Ammo, etc. and it continues to function 100%. It gets dirtier than a priest referee at a altar boy mud wrestling competition when it comes to cleaning it, but it still works. Just so long as it’s round nose; it still won’t feed worth a damn with hollow points or any type of flat nose ammo. Fine with me, the cheaper the better.

Well, as I stated in the video, thanks to everyone here on ARFCOM for your help and input. This project was started well over three years ago and its still going strong. Please continue to leave comments and feedback, as that really is the best way to share the wealth that is knowledge.

Here's my latest entry. It a Bushy lower with a CMMG 9mm upper, sporting a 7.2 inch barrel. Suppressor is a Gemtec Raptor. I'm using a ProMag Magazine Adapter Block and with a little polishing of the feed ramp I am able to use cheap Uzi magazines without a hitch. And for added fun, the Slide-fire Technologies stock.

Ramp your bolt and add a AAC rate reducing buffer. My NFA REG Sendra ran much slower and more fun when I did these 2 things !

The bullet diameter of a 9mm is .355 but I would assume he would have to over bore it a little to prevent the bullet from striking the flash hider.

Weird. I have a KX3 on my 9mm SBR that I didn't bore out at all. I was able to drop a 9mm cartridge through without modification. 100+ rds, no issues.

Did you have the KX3 bored out for 9mm? Do you happen to remember the diameter that you had it bored out to?

Thanks!

.355......right?

The bullet diameter of a 9mm is .355 but I would assume he would have to over bore it a little to prevent the bullet from striking the flash hider.

Weird. I have a KX3 on my 9mm SBR that I didn't bore out at all. I was able to drop a 9mm cartridge through without modification. 100+ rds, no issues.

ETA: Pic Thread!

Well that is some good news. I was not sure what the inside diameter of the KX3 was since they are typically either for 5.56 or 7.62. Is yours the 5.56 version?

I believe it's 5.56. It has 1/2"-28 threads.
