I currently have an all Colt 9mm A1 upper in post ban configuration with a full auto bolt. I'd like to switch to a flat top and SBR the gun it's on. It seems like a shame to cut up and part out this upper if there is any demand for it in its present form. Is there any market for all Colt uppers? If so, I'd just as soon sell it and buy a new flat top 9mm upper from Rock River. Any thoughts on what this is worth? I also had the bolt ramped if that makes any difference. The upper has less than 1000 rounds through it, not because it's unreliable or I don't like it, just because there never seems to be enough time to shoot. Thanks, Chris |

Walker, I am no expert, but Colt uppers generally seem to demand a premium, mainly because of the name and the fact the barrels are chrome lined. The fact that the bolt is also ramped would probably make it more desirable. I would hazard a guess you could probably get in the $450-500 range which would more than pay for a new RRA upper from ADCO firearms ($366). I think it is really considerate of you to appreciate the value of that upper to another person! Dawg (edited) I just saw this on the Equipment Exchange http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=119&t=194754 $595 for a preban Colt upper and there is interest. Your postban is going to be useful to a lot more people, so I am sure you could ask $550 and it would move fast... |
